    Jason Turner [Joe Palmer]

Since Jason sadly passed away we have had virtually no communications whatsoever from Joe what's his name. I would like to know what he actually does apart from the Nest and Padel courts.

He's the Chief Executive Officer of the club. Or in old-fashioned, un-Americanese, the Managing Director.

A quick Google brings this AI summary, which may be reasonably accurate...

"What does a CEO of a football club do?

    AI Overview

A CEO of a football club is responsible for the overall strategic direction, daily operations, and success of the club, both on and off the pitch. They act as the main point of contact with various football governing bodies and stakeholders, and are accountable to the club board for the business's performance.

Here's a more detailed look at their responsibilities:

    Strategic Leadership & Planning:

    • Overseeing the club's strategic plan:
The CEO collaborates with the board and fan ownership group to develop and implement the club's long-term vision.

      Setting clear objectives and goals:
    • They define the club's aspirations and ensures alignment with the strategic direction.
    • Developing and implementing strategies:
They lead the implementation of plans to achieve the club's goals, whether it's on the pitch, in business development, or fan engagement.

      Monitoring performance:
    • The CEO tracks progress against strategic objectives and adjusts plans as needed.

    Financial Management & Business Development:

    • Managing the club's finances:
They oversee budgets, revenue streams, and financial performance, working closely with the club accountant.
    • Identifying revenue opportunities:
They look for ways to generate income, such as commercial deals, sponsorships, and partnerships.
    • Ensuring financial sustainability:
They focus on building a financially robust and sustainable business model.
    • Maximizing commercial opportunities:
The CEO explores and implements strategies to enhance the club's brand and generate commercial revenue.

    Football Operations & Fan Engagement:

    • Working with the manager and coaching staff:
They provide support and resources to the coaching team and ensure alignment with the club's football strategy.
    • Managing player recruitment and contracts:
While they may not directly handle player transfers, they oversee the process and ensure it aligns with the club's strategic direction.
    • Fostering a positive club culture:
They promote a strong sense of identity and community within the club.
    • Engaging with fans:
They build relationships with supporters, ensuring they feel valued and connected to the club.

    Stakeholder Management & Representation:

    • Acting as the club's ambassador:
The CEO represents the club to the public, governing bodies, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
    • Building relationships:
They cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Managing expectations:
They communicate the club's vision and strategy effectively to stakeholders and manage their expectations.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Facilitating a safe and secure environment:
They ensure that the club provides a safe and friendly environment for players, staff, and fans.
    • Ensuring compliance:
They oversee the club's adherence to relevant regulations and legal requirements.
    • Managing change:
They navigate periods of transition and adaptation, ensuring the club remains competitive and relevant.
    • Developing and mentoring staff:
They provide leadership, support, and guidance to staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. "

I think it is fair to say that Jason was a bit of a one off in that he was a natural communicator on the right level, that sort of thing comes naturally to some people (like Jason) but not to others. A half 4sred attempt at that could seem ingenuine and worse, hopefully his work behind the scenes is better.

I couldn?t give a monkeys if he?s doing his job right I don?t need to know what he?s doing. At least we?ve had some movement the last few days, player in, medical director and a hint there?s soon to be news on the HC appointment.

    Harsh OP I would say.

Joe Palmer has appeared and answered questions at two fan's forums which are still online on YouTube, and just because his name isn't specifically on every written communication, it doesn't mean these statements aren't representative of what he's thinking and doing. In terms of visibility I'd say he's in the middle range. We used to see plenty and hear plenty from Jim Rodwell back in the day, but it didn't mean the club was healthy.
