Oliver Norburn (CM)- [Blackpool - Notts County] - Free
A captain almost everywhere he’s been, the experienced Ollie Norburn drops below League One for the first time in seven years to join Notts County. Norburn was injured at the back end of last season while on loan at Wigan, so he may take a while to get going at Meadow Lane, but he almost certainly has all the pedigree, quality, and character to play a huge role next season.
That could be important. In big moments, especially at the back end of 2024/25, County have looked in desperate need of a big character such as Norburn. He could make a real impact.
Maziar Kouhyar (LW) - [York - Notts County] - Free
It may be something of a surprise to see Kouhyar, 27, return to the EFL. Last seen in these parts with Walsall in 2018/19, he dropped down into non-league after his career was blighted by injury. But… we think we like this one.
Kouhyar ranks highly in the National League North/South for progressive runs, penalty-box entries, dribbles, pass accuracy and goal contributions. He started 35 games in 24/25, scoring 12 league goals and putting on 6 assists. Those injuries look to be behind him, and he gives County a creative outlet out wide.
Kouhyar is a great age. He’s got a great backstory. He’ll have the bit between his teeth. And, because he’s an Afghanistan international, County now have enough players to postpone games due to international call-ups if they want to next season.
