Oliver Norburn (CM)- [Blackpool - Notts County] - Free

A captain almost everywhere he’s been, the experienced Ollie Norburn drops below League One for the first time in seven years to join Notts County. Norburn was injured at the back end of last season while on loan at Wigan, so he may take a while to get going at Meadow Lane, but he almost certainly has all the pedigree, quality, and character to play a huge role next season.

That could be important. In big moments, especially at the back end of 2024/25, County have looked in desperate need of a big character such as Norburn. He could make a real impact.

Maziar Kouhyar (LW) - [York - Notts County] - Free

It may be something of a surprise to see Kouhyar, 27, return to the EFL. Last seen in these parts with Walsall in 2018/19, he dropped down into non-league after his career was blighted by injury. But… we think we like this one.

Kouhyar ranks highly in the National League North/South for progressive runs, penalty-box entries, dribbles, pass accuracy and goal contributions. He started 35 games in 24/25, scoring 12 league goals and putting on 6 assists. Those injuries look to be behind him, and he gives County a creative outlet out wide.

Kouhyar is a great age. He’s got a great backstory. He’ll have the bit between his teeth. And, because he’s an Afghanistan international, County now have enough players to postpone games due to international call-ups if they want to next season.
What is NTT20? Forgive my ignorance. I think in this case the facts speak for themselves. The man is 27 and has just been released by York after being sent to the conference North on loan twice.

I wish Kouyar all the very best and hope he proves me wrong...but would MKDongs, Walsall, Bristol Rovers or Chesterfield have made this signing? Absolutely not. Bringing someone in so we get games postponed during internationals is a very weak argument.

Not the Top 20 is a podcast by two blokes who have quite a lot of in depth football knowledge about all clubs below the Premier League.

Walsall have signed two players from the NL South this summer, thanks for your extensive research on the topic before commenting

Players look better / worse dependant on whos around them, Langstaff looked a shadow of himself this season but looked great moving from NLN to Notts, its not as black and white and people make out on this board.

    Proper head coach changes everything.

I think Crawley signed a bunch of players from the NL and below and got promoted out of L2. It can be done.

Chesterfield have shown their intent by signing Dylan Markanday. He had a great loan spell there and Leyton Orient before his release by Blackburn Rovers.

Impressive signing that. I thought he'd end up in L1. I can see Chesterfield being up there along with MKD.

I just hope we show a similar level of intent this summer.
