If he turns the job down then that would be worrying .I like many others are neutral on this .His domestic situation i guess is still the same but i dont think he will be headhunted like before , he will need another promotion before anyone shows interest and then a view may be taken that he only does it with Notts. If he fails then i think his days as an efl manager are over. That is what he will be weighing up.
Its a difficult one for LW .He will be financially secure for the next year or so cos of Swansea compo but coming back to Notts will bring with it huge expectations and there is only JJ and MP still there.I am not sure if he is going to take the job.
As stated not really his type of squad certainly going forward, lacking in pace vision, and general fitness.
It blows my mind that after nearly a months wait for a new Head Coach and 18 months of Stuart Maynard before that, some fans are still turning their nose up at LW.
In his only full season, we got more points than we have ever had in a single campaign in our history. Granted it was in the National League, but we hadnt looked remotely capable of anything like that in our previous three seasons in that division under our previous managers.
The defence thing is interesting. We didnt concede a lot in the promotion campaign, but it was clear we needed strong reinforcements in goal and at the back that didnt come. Theyre now here. Instead, we added McGoldrick and Crowley to an already stacked frontline and Jodi caught fire. There was no cover for Palmer or Bostock, who wasnt the same player in the EFL.
In other words, all of our best players were attack-minded, so it was logical to go with the free flowing approach even if it did mean some mental scores we may never see again. With that squad, it was probably our best hope of going up. When Maynard tried to tighten it up with the same personnel, it didnt work and we were much worse.
So Id expect it to be a little more sensible with a more balanced squad this time around, if he were to come back (which I dont think he is, as by the looks of it hed have even less say than before).
