O/ T I wonder what the new Mayor of Rotherham thinks of this.

In Eastwood, Rotherham, between January 1, 2021 and September 30, 2024, there were 568 incidents of Anti-Social Behavior (AS and 339 Neighbourhood Crime investigations within the 13 Census Output Areas that make up the area. These 13 areas are among the top half in Rotherham for private rented properties and also within the top two-thirds for total Neighbourhood Crime and ASB incidents, according to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

Common types of ASB incidents were related to rowdy or inconsiderate behavior, begging/vagrancy, theft from motor vehicles, residential burglary, and robbery of personal property. One specific Lower Super Output Area (LSOA), E01007769, had the highest volume of both total Neighbourhood Crime and ASB incidents, as well as the highest proportion of private rented properties.

However, In Eastwood, violence and ***ual offences are the most commonly reported crimes. In 2023, Eastwood had 424 reported offences in this category.

In Rotherham East ward, where Eastwood is located, there were 2,286 recorded crimes in 2021, with a rate of 136 crimes per 1,000 population compared to the Rotherham average of 110.

Cayton, Eastwood was a nice housing estate back in the 70's when I lived there, both Haldane Road now a no go area and Coleridge Road from one end to the other, again now not a nice area.

Over 35 years ago I went to connect a gas cooker up for the son of a friend, recently married and just moving into their first house in Eastwood. Whilst there the carpet fitter arrived to fit new carpets and brought the first one in, placed it in the room it was going in and went back to his van to get another one, only thing was there wasn't another one ,lifted in the short time he left his van open ! On the other hand the police arrived almost immediately after being called , knew exactly which wall to look over and retrieved carpets within half an hour after them being nicked !! So on one hand nothing changes but on the other the action of the police force has changed beyond recognition
