    Thoughts on LiVARpool game

Had a think about it post game and to be honest that was one of the better performances I've seen from a losing Newcastle side. 10 men vs 11 is always going to be hard, really 12 men when you consider how obvious the ref was in his allegiances.

Livramento was fantastic, Sch?r, Joelinton, Tonali all mint before they all went off injured.

It was a ****ing god awful referee and refereeing performance. If VAR looks a bit longer at Szob on Gordon, or Grav on Bruno, or the penalty shout, and still doesn't give it - then I think wrong but so be it. . . the fact they weren't even considered for further action is disgusting at best and corruption at worst.

The 100 minute winner for them was the first time we looked like we had one less player all night.

Pissed off at the result, but not the performance, it was a great performance, they fought like lions (or magpies ) for one another but a gutting result and feels worse for who it was against., 2 goals against the champions and a moral victory for Newcastle is how it feels.

Some other thoughts, based on highlights and twitter stuff:

The look on the owners faces I think their meeting with Isak didn?t go too well - however, once Sept 1st comes round that could all change, this is still game face force a move Isak at hte minute.

Gordon cost us by being too pumped and getting sent off - not for the first time - see Ian's point on the match thread.

Ramsey looked good and slotted straight in, I think he'll be a big player for us this season.

Barnes needs a goal for his confidence, I didn't think he looked his best from the bits I saw and Osula goal will give him confidence, which we'll need as he'll have to lead the line with Gordon out for 3 games.

Fantastic effort to come back from 2-0 when it looked all over Bruno was immense and Elanga tore them apart in the 1st half but sadly after having to go more central in the 2nd half struggled a bit, Great for Osula scoring as well big worry about Tonali and Joelinton going off hopefully they are ok, I agree thought Ramsey looked decent neat and tidy. Officials just like in 2022 at anfield stole a point from us 11 minutes injury time was a joke, Joelinton given a bear hug in the box and no penalty Konate shoving Barnes over on the edge of the box and surprise surprise nothing given for either. Hopefully we will have a new striker in for Leeds at the weekend but if we have to go with Osula for that game i wont be too worried.

    Great summing up, Jammy.

I was immenseley /proud of the team today. To think, if we had a world class striker, we would have won that, never mind drawn it.

That's 5 points Isak has cost us so far.

Slot let his mask slip-we were the better team today-by a long shot at times so for him to spout such shite...well, he's just shown himself to be an arrogant twat like most of their team and fans.

The big worry is Big Joe looking like he'd badly torn his groin and Tonali...well, don't be surprised if it turns out he needs an op. Add to that Gordon not being available for 3 games and the Leeds game looks a lot tougher.

Don't think we will have Schar for Leeds either - concussion protocol. Dirty sh?te Van Dyck, it wasn't his leading/jumping arm that caught Schar - he blatantly swung his other arm over as they were coming back down
