Welcome to another MillersMad match thread and this weekend sees the Millers make the short journey to the One Call Stadium, home of Mansfield Town FC. Let's meet our hosts.
The Boss
Nigel Clough doesn't really need much of an introduction. Appointed Mansfield boss on 6th November 2020, he is currently the longest serving manager in L1. Since his appointment, the Stags have made incremental progress under Clough and in 2023/24, he guided them back to the third tier of English football, ending a 21 year absence at this level.
Player(s) to watch
Will Evans was top scorer for Mansfield last season with 13 goals. The 28 year old Welshman had previously scored 21 goals for L2 outfit Newport County before being snapped up by the Stags at the beginning of last season for a club record fee of around 200k.
Another player to look out for is midfielder Jamie McDonnell, a player the Stags have on loan from Nottingham Forest. Albeit as a late substitute, the 21 year old made his debut for the Northern Ireland senior team v Germany during the recent international break. He's meant to be a player with real potential.
Tyler Roberts is another player they have on loan, this time from Birmingham. The 26 year old striker is a former Leeds and Welsh international so will no doubt pose a threat on Saturday.
They played for both clubs
Alex MacDonald, John Mullins, Lee Williamson, Neil Richardson. Paul Warne played 7 games on loan at Mansfield when he was with us.

Summary
Mansfield come into this game without a win in 6. Although, looking behind that statistic, 4 of those games were away from home, including one v Everton in the EFL Cup. Last time out they were beaten away at Port Vale so they'll be very much hoping to get back to winning ways.
Mansfield have major issues defensively and are likely to have no fit centre backs available for Saturday, this is due to injuries and a sending off last week. Is this something our depleted strike-force can take advantage of? We'll know by 5pm on Saturday. Enjoy the game everyone and UTM.
Mansfield won?t need any centre backs given that Hugill is the only forward we?ve got available
Tomorrow will give us a real assessment of where we are as a club and what holds for the rest of the season. Like us, they are not on a good run and have numerous injuries. A defeat tomorrow would be disasterous. UTM
Why not play our 2nd goalkeeper Ted Cann Centre forward, it's only way he will get to play with MH favouritisum.
Remember seeing Millers keeper Gordon Morritt playing centre forward.
Mansfield Town lost centre back Alfie Kilgour end of contract to Bristol Rovers, playing well for B.Rovers.
Like I said before he could have been a asset to the Millers on a free transfer..Marshalled his defence & played out from the back for M.Town last season against us at the NYS in 3-3 draw.
Might have been Bournemouth at ome - Seamis mcd off an we lost I think 7-2 on a tuesdi neet
Ted Mcdougal scored a number !!!
We need to come away with points, 1 will do just to stop this awful run of away results. Another game like Wimbledon and a similar result is a disaster especially with the Bradford game next. We need something to boost the players confidence. Praying for a result tomorrow. Worried now we have three CBs he will continue with the 3 at the back, I haven’t seen anything to suggest we have the players to play that formation.
Maybe Hamshaw is unwisely setting himself up for the sack with his rinse and repeat press conferences expecting massive improvement when his injured players return . Unfortunately they are not that good.
I think it was Brian Hughes that scored four for Bournemouth that night. McDougall was then at Man Utd.
