Time to completely rest our first choice players against Stranraer and look at the rest of the squad.

Peterhead will be desperate to avenge the defeat we handed out to them, - so we will need our strongest, freshest team for that match, - hopefully with one or two additions to the squad.

We then have 3 in a row at Palmy, - with a chance to trial some players in the diddy cup competition.

We?ve not got a squad big enough to do that and even if we did there?s no chance that would happen. We can?t let that lot beat us twice in a season ffs.

The Scottish Cup is an entirely different beast, - but Stranraer can beat us 6 times in a row as far as I'm concerned, - as long as we can get ourselves out of the First Division. As our manager has suggested, - this Cup competition is unimportant, - and he is correct, - so why risk any first choice players?

Because of much needed money if we go through to the next stage I?d say.

Still no new directors incoming which is a MAJOR concern IMO.

Surely there?s someone local out there who?d love to become involved.

I'm old fashioned but I'd suggest they play because it's what they get bloody well paid to do. It's, on the odd occasion, two games per week, it's hardly stretching them. I don't subscribe to the risk of injury thing either. Yes there's a chance however they could also trip up at home.

These games should be a much needed chance to hone their tactics and formation for the league, which they are hardly setting alight.

I wish I was rested at my work every now and then, what a luxury that would be

I?m completely with you Threefivetwo, if only everyone had the luxury of being rested, however, there is a real danger of losing players due to over playing. Therefore, I fall into the category of preservation for the important games. There?s no point in beating Stranraer, but losing 6 players through injury. Better by far, to select the 2nd eleven, thus preserving the first eleven, but hopefully discovering a couple of diamonds who can be added to the first eleven.

The club should be playing there strongest team in every game which is for the senior squad. To do anything else is cheating the paying fans. Not selecting a weaker side when there’s no game for another week. We aren’t talking about players that are playing abroad with all the travelling and time changes etc. we are talking about players who play generally one game a week. So the strongest team should be playing. That’s what fans pay to see. Not an under 19 side who we can watch playing for a couple of pound on a Tuesday night

    Injury Updates from the OOS

    Oct 5 2025 10:13
Although it was good to have Brennan Dickenson return to the starting eleven against Alloa after a lengthy layoff, we still have a few players missing through injury, Manager Peter Murphy gave this update.

Jordan Allan has had a little bit of a setback. He was supposed to be back running on Friday, but when we checked his knee with an MRI scan, the screw that was put into his knee to keep the new ligament tight was too loose. So, he needs another little operation which is going to keep him out for another four weeks potentially, which is quite frustrating for everybody.

Benjamin Luissint has a baker’s cyst at the back of his knee, the high end of his calf. He was supposed to get that drained at the hospital on Friday, but they decided not to do it. So, we're left without him for another week or so and we don't know how he's going to develop.

Euan Ross who picked up a calf injury in training continues his rehab.

And We’re having to try resting Kurtis Guthrie with this stress, not stress fracture, but stress response. If he kept playing, he would end up fracturing his metatarsal. So, he is probably going to be two or three weeks, which is what we planned for, giving him the rest against Montrose, Alloa and Stranraer.

Kind of says it all folks. If the club are struggling with injuries, - why make it worse by risking players in a game that doesn't really matter? Obviously, - Fatfan is correct to say we should try to win every game and play our strongest team, - but the reality is we may conspire to lose important league games by doing so. I'll leave it up to you to decide the best course of action, - but mine would be forget Saturday's match at Stranraer, - play a second eleven, - but try out some of the unsung heroes and see what happens.

We?ll play a strong team with maybe 3/4 who did not play at the weekend.
Interesting to note the team prepared for Saturday by training on grass at Maryfield today. They?re definitely taking it seriously.
