Agree if it's lasting it is an achievement. If someone achieves something significant it's good to acknowledge it whatever your political persuasion are.

Typically sensible, even handed and unblinkered comment.
Trump deserves some - not all - of the credit for the Israel/Gaza peace deal and to that extent it’s a case of credit where it’s due.
What he doesn’t deserve - at least not yet - is the Nobel Peace Prize and the reaction to him not getting it, both from him and his supporters has been more than a little churlish.
There would be a supreme irony about Trump being awarded such a ‘prize’ however, above all, the timing was simply wrong.
If, as commentators from the informed Jeremy Bowen to our own - slightly less illustrious - GP seem to suggest the deal is unlikely to last then little will have been achieved, by Trump or anyone else.
Come back in a year’s time Donald. IF - as I very much hope - the peace deal has held, strengthened even, then you will be a realistic, if unlikely, contender. Until then…we can but hope.

I believe it's awarded based on the previous calender year achievement anyway.

We all, i hope, hope that this time next year we have peace, in Ukraine too.

He's welcome to the award if we are.

1.Correct Sith - "applications closed" back in January I believe so no way he could win the upcoming one. Next year maybe if as rA suggested it holds up.
    2.Who is Jeremy Bowen?

Short lived it may be but I'm minded of an allegory. A man and his son were walking along a beach where the tide had washed up 100s of starfish. The man bent down and lobbed one starfish back into the sea. His son said "Why did you do that, Dad, there's so many it won't make a difference?". The father replied "It did to that one"

How?s that one working out? I think we all already knew that sacking your best manager in years was a really bad idea.
You also need to tread carefully regarding that Rayner suggestion of yours. She resigned. Whether she was ?tax dodging? or made a mistake remains to be proved.
. She resigned RA. It?s clear she was not on the path of righteousness.
    All politicians get dirty mitts.
The irony of Rayner, was her spitting venom at Tory sleeze etc.
Turns out even being paid a fortune by unions wasn?t enough for potty mouth. Let?s also add in the public protection for her boyfriend and moving his goods around in government BMW X5s shall we for good measure. Or should I be careful?

Credit to 47 for getting a temporary cease fire in place. And that, thus far, is all it is. A temporary halt to the bombing.

Like most folk, I really hope this becomes a permanent peace. However, alongside the 20 points in the plan, there's one, IMO, pressing problem that needs to solved if there is to be lasting peace. That is almost 80 years in which "settlers" have stolen land from Palestinians in Israel, bulldozed their homes or simply taken them over, burning and bulldozing of Palestinian olive groves, assault and murder of Palestinians. All without any settler being arrested, tried and, if found guilty, sentenced and jailed. It is this that is one of the major reasons Hamas exists. Failure to remedy it will see more attacks on Israeli Jews and Zionists which will instigate more bombing of Gaza and the West Bank.

If the root cause isn't addressed, we will get the same outcome.

For all the **** thrown at Trump, not all of it is justified, just personal dislikes.
Compared to Biden, he?s a saint.

In his last office , how many countries did he attack invade?
Who of his predecessors deported more than Trump? Attacked more countries, republican or democrat?
Which of his off spring was protected by the current president from prison?
Who lowered the borders, allowing 11 million illegals to flood in?

He talks like a berk, I accept, but if I was American Id be fuming at Biden/ Obama for dragging the US into the gutter in many ways

Unless Jews are involved, the left don?t react.
Muslim on Muslim crimes are horrific in the world story. Yet only Israel gets bad press, because like our Labour lovers here, anti semitism is rife
