Lol…is that your latest attempt at a ‘pop’, Andy? Actually it’s been called CDT, or just D&T, for approaching forty years now and I’ve never received - or taught - a lesson of either which is a pity because, unlike you apparently, I’ve never subscribed to the notion of practical subjects being somehow inferior, or the hierarchical pigeonholing of pupils as academic and non academic.

Amazing where this thread has led. Has there ever been one that has meandered around off topic so much? No, don’t go off on one, that’s not a ‘pop’, but maybe now, out of respect for both its originator and initial purpose, we should let things lie and allow a return to this thread’s original and specific sad purpose.

I should give up while you?re behind rA, it was metalwork when I was at school. If I was having a pop I?d have said cookery.

Also no idea at all where you get your ?apparently? from, I?m very pro practical/non academic subjects, if you recall (and I know you won?t) you tried to take me to task for my despair at how unprepared school leavers appear to be since the millennium for the practical side of life.

Not my call if the thread gets back on track, you (ie you just for emphasis) kicked off when I attempted to exert control recently

    There?s a theme here

It's rather refreshing to see a thread meander aimlessly

It's been a decent apple harvest this year. Almost as good as the blackcurrants were earlier

Not sure I’ve ever been ‘behind’ where you’re concerned, AF. I suspect not, but not for me, or you, to judge.

The ‘apparently’ comes - fairly obviously I’d have thought - from you attempting to place a negative and belittling connotation on the teaching of metalwork. Sorry it had to be explained.

As it happens I did introduce a cookery (food technology) ‘module’ for less able school leavers. Went down very well…applauded by OFSTED too as it happens and still apparently in use, so maybe unwise and somewhat ignorant of you to knock that particular subject.

I’m aware it’s not your call if the thread gets back on track and my suggestion was simply that we cease having a go at each other - as we have been doing since you took weird exception to a comment that was never even aimed at you and was purely observational - and show the original thread the respect it deserves.

That’s my intention anyway. Up to you if you want to keep trying to inadequately chip away.

To settle this I propose handbags at dawn (pistols if you prefer but handbags seem more appropriate!) with the winner buying the loser (determined by a low whimpering sound!) copious amounts of 🍺in the Neppy with MA acting as referee (who is of course rewarded with his impartiality with his quota of the said refreshment!).

Finally, a job I can do

If I call it a draw, do they both have to buy me copious amounts of Pedi? I hope so.
