Strange lot but the nicest people you could ever meet.
Welsh rugby definitely working class imo. Have friends in Wales and once went to see Scotland play (lose) against Wales at Cardiff Arms Park about 40 years or so ago. The fans were great both at the game and at the local rugby club the night before. These guys can sure drink! Strange night though. Most there were good singers your typical Welsh tenors. The evening started with communal singing of the dirtiest form of rugby songs you could imagine, followed by singing in Welsh various songs including their national anthem and ended up with drunken renditions of a good number of pious hymns.

As you said "Strange lot but the nicest folk you could ever meet".
