    Scottish Teams in Europe

What an embarrassment. That's the co-efficient right, royally 'rubber ducked'. I suppose Celtic will blame lack of competition despite Hearts topping the league at present and the poor souls, of course, can't compete financially in Europe.

I see the team that the DABs lost out to are rock bottom, the only pointless side in the Conference League. Seem to remember the DAB fan's bigging up Rapid at the time as real class opposition, the hardest draw they could have got, possible winners etc. Those comments turned out well !!

    Abysmal stuff.

Football in this country is at a very low ebb....and very expensive.

Were they not Semi finalists last year? And they probably were the hardest draw the DABS could have got, as for qualifying for Europe I don't see the big deal canny be good for team moral getting pumped home and away every tie.

Rapid qualified for the knockout stages last season in the top eight therefore missing the knockout stage playoffs. The beat Pafos in the last 16 and lost in the quarter final to Djurgardens of Sweden. They were the hardest, theoretical, draw that United could have got for the round that they played but only from the small section of teams in their 'pot' (this was following United drawing the lowest ranked/easiest team Strassen in their previous round). Their record this season in the League stage though has been abysmal P5 lost 5 and a GD of -11 scoring only twice. The point I was making was that, this season, they have not turned out to be the "world class" opposition that the DAB fans made them out to be.

With regard to qualifying for Europe we seem so far away from this that it is almost irrelevant to discuss it and Scotland isn't far away from going down to 4 qualifying from the 5 currently, due to dropping like a stone in the coefficient rankings at present, in any case. I would love another 'jolly' like the Perugia trip which was brilliant despite losing out but I have to agree with you that even if we scraped into Europe our fate would be like that of the Motherwells, St. Mirrens and Killies i.e. pumped out at the earliest stage unless lucky enough to draw a bunch of amateurs in the first stage like the DABs were able to. Anyway I reckon we've got far more to worry about relegation direct or a play off rather than European football, sad to say.

I said I wouldn't ever reply to you again but well you did ask. I've seen every European the we have played from the early sixties to date and went to Perugia for the away leg. Wasn't at the Speroni testimonial. Any more questions?
