I think more contracts of the kind given to Kayode should be considered in future. I think it would focus the mind.
But there is something radically wrong with our pre signing medical procedure which should include a rigorous assessment of a player's availability.
The signings under Hamshaw have been a disaster
No more excuses
Tigerish, nice plan if it worked but how many players do you know in the modern game, that would accept a 'Pay as you play'? You're virtually saying, 'here's a zero contract' we'll use you as and when, that would never work pal.

As for Kayode accepting one, it's the only contract he was likely to get so took it.

As for the 'rigorous assessment of a player's availability', I wouldn't be looking at Hamshaw for this. First it would be the recruitment team then whoever is responsible for conducting a thorough medical. The likes of Raggett merely coasted in on the fact the 40+ games he played the season before he came to us. In other words, lazy background checks and again, physical monitoring in the medical.

The rest of our sick bay can feign all they like, except for those that have been under the knife, as they're never really challenged. The modern day footballer is like a delicate glass figurine that can go pop in the blink of an eye. No hard b.astards left in the game anymore unless you count Hugill for playing through what he did when he could have so easily cried off like a baby.
