On New Year's Day, with an improved performance since the loss away to Portsmouth, Charlton earned a point against the league leaders and table toppers Coventry City. Joe Rankin-Costello scoring late in the 2nd half.

He too had a good game against Portsmouth by all accounts we should be seeing more of him on match days. Ellis Simms scored to give Coventry an early lead in the first half.

In the 2nd, Kaminski made some good saves to keep Charlton in the game and the Add1cks pressure late on paid off after a Kelmann effort was parried away by the Coventry GK, setting up J R-C to tap in his first goal opening his Charlton account.
