Romared Match Thoughts Liverpool v Barnsley

I can't say I'm looking forward to this , the thing is I should be because these type of games dont come round too often for clubs like ourselves plus it's the FA cup .

I take the point we've a good record at Anfield and I was lucky enough to see us on those occasions , two wins and a draw , the thing is two of those results were achieved by the two greatest teams in our history and the FA cup victory in 2008 was a case of it was simply our day .

I just don't want us to embarrass ourselves and I really hope we can at least do ourselves justice on the night .

    Fingers crossed .

Liverpool can be ruthless and given what happened to Exeter yesterday my only hope is that we are not humiliated , its a tricky journey over the tops in the middle of winter so lets hope our lads all bring their A game with them and they put on a performance to justify the wonderful support that is travelling with them but alas my gut feeling is it will be a walloping , I really hope I am wrong, we will see !

Sat listening to Barnsley on talk sport and it?s lazy journalism from them. As they keep saying that we are in a relegation fight, but never mind the fact we have 5 games in hand. And Charlie Adam seems to think that he once played for Barnsley. But we need to kick on now.

I think this could be a massive turning point the season. Sounds like we are giving a very good showing. And i totally agree Animallittle.

This game has been no gimme for Liverpool this evening. Barnsley can come away with their heads held high.

A very good performance with a result that certainly flattered Liverpool , the penalty being turned down was certainly a key factor and to ,e was a nailed on spot kick , Cleary was motoring when his shirt was grabbed which brought him down and once again when we play one of the big boys a ref bottles it but we gave a performance the travelling faithful deserved and did us proud. I genuinely believed we would get thumped but I was wrong , they played really well and now the trick is to take that in to the league starting this saturday, we will see.

When I saw the lineups I was fearing a Man City Exeter repeat however the players and coaches should be proud of that. 4-1 flatters them massively I think and had we scored in the opening 30 seconds or got the penalty decision, who knows how it could have ended up.

We need to show that same hunger and fight in league 1 now. I know we sat men behind the ball to hit them on the counter and we probably can?t do that in league 1 but there?s no reason why we can?t show that same hunger and desire to defend. Last night we were a proper defensive unit, working together and staying strong. Defend like that, with the attacking players we have, there?s no reason why we can?t move up the table.

Every one played well but to pick out a few. Cleary was immense and I imagine most teams on the championship will be having a look now. Let?s hope we stay firm and only accept a daft bid if we need to. Shepherd, who has been part of a leaky defence all season, was an absolute rock. Winning headers, tackles, getting blocks in. That needs to happen in league 1 and hopefully O?Connell can help with that. Lastly, I want to single out O?Keeffe. I am not his biggest fan and I have been very confused at him coming back and being involved in our squad after not being good enough in the summer. But he was excellent last night. Fair play to him.
