How does anyone negotiate with a Tangerine Manchild prone to tantrums?

"US President Donald Trump has said he no longer feels obliged to think only of peace after he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last year.

In a message to Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr St?re, Trump blamed the country for not giving him the prize.

In his reply to Trump, St?re explained that an independent committee, not the government of Norway, awards the prize which last October went to Venezuela's opposition leader Mar?a Corina Machado.

In the same message to St?re, Trump insisted the US needed "Complete and Total Control of Greenland" - the semi autonomous Danish territory. Asked later if he planned to use force to seize it, he replied "no comment".

Denmark is a fellow member of Nato - a defence alliance with the US as its most influential partner. It works on the principle that members should defend each-other in case of external attacks.

There has never been an attack by one member against another since the alliance was founded in 1949.

Denmark has warned that US military action in Greenland would spell the end of Nato. It has received support from European members of the alliance - some even sent a handful of troops to Greenland last week in a move seen as symbolic.

However, Trump followed that deployment with an announcement to impose a 10% tariff on goods from eight Nato allies - including the UK - from 1 February if they opposed his proposed takeover of Greenland, and threatened to raise it to 25% by June.

It was in this context of heightened tension that Jonas St?re sent a message to Trump on behalf of himself and the Finnish President, Alexander Stubb.

The two European leaders said "we all should work to take this down and de-escalate - so much is happening around us where we need to stand together".

In his reply, Trump wrote: "Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper' for the US."

He went on to say that Denmark could not protect Greenland from Russia or China, and questioned, "why do they have a "right of ownership" anyway? There are no written documents, it's only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also".

"I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States," he said.

"The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland," he concluded.

The sparsely populated but resource-rich Arctic island is well placed for early warning systems in the event of missile attacks and for monitoring vessels in the region."

Do you remember mon ami, right at the start of his first term, it was, I think, our erstwhile chum from the Morecombe Bay area, LibDem Councillor Jim, confidently predicting the outbreak of WW3 within weeks as President Trump took office, So here we are as his 6th year as POTUS begins and no significant wars or any great catastrophes have occurred. Five years and counting of hysterical ranting, and all for nothing. Calm yourself down mon ami, he's playing you Lefties as you'd play a kitten with a piece of string.

    God Bless America.

The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, is in Davos today, god alone knows why, wtf has he got to do with anything, but to be fair to the clown he did have something right, on the EU's response to Trump he said, "they've been played, this guy is playing them for fools, and it's embarrassing."

Just like I said, Mr Trump is taking the piss and laughing his kecks off.

Without doubt ----The Greatest President of the United States Ever. He must be, because he said so and nobody is arguing about it.
He obviosuly is being backed by a lot of influential people, possibly those who bailed him out of several dodgy financial problems. Remind me again --who were they, where did they come from?

He's an unashamed grifter, nothing more, nothing less.

Trump has chucked out of the White House window the respect for democracy, the rule of law, political pluralism, non-discrimination on the basis of race, creed and s-e-xual orientation. In Trump’s twisted world if you are white, you are alright, if you aren’t white God help you. What a way to run a country. The next couple of days in Davos will be extremely interesting and no amount of sycophancy from European leaders will stop this lunatic in his tracks. God Bless America my arse!

After watching the self-obsessed muppet ramble and rant mein freund the Tangerine Clown seems to have serious mental health issues following his completely bonkers White House press conference which was reminiscent of Hitler in Nuremberg. Hitler organised dragging Jews out of their homes, Trump is advocating the same for non-whites residing in the US.

Trump Derangement Syndrome strikes again. No known cure.

    From a friend in Denmark.
As a young person, I was an exchange student in the United States. America was once a place of freedom, opportunity, and responsibility.
For many years, I also agreed with Angela Merkel that one must speak with one’s adversaries. That dialogue — even with Putin — was necessary to preserve stability and peace.
But I am no longer there.
    Something fundamental has changed.
And now it is definitively over.
The utterly unhinged American president has closed that chapter — not with words, but with actions. With threats. With coercion. With contempt for rules, alliances, and human beings.
We have to be honest now.
We have to be more willing to sacrifice something.
    Willing to take responsibility.
    Willing to invest in ourselves.
Willing to build a strong, independent European community — in the EU, in NATO — with backbone, resolve, and unity.
We have to move to the front of the bus. Because if we do not do it now, we will never return — not to the lives we once had. I do not even believe it is possible to return to them. But we can move forward to something else. Something more mature. Something more responsible. Something once again built on rules, peace, calm, and trust.
What is happening now is not a way to live.
And we can no longer say: This will pass.
    Because it will not.
    Naivety is dead.
Our love affair with the United States is definitively over — not in anger, but in clarity. And now the time has come for us to become far better at taking care of one another.
    In Europe.
    In the EU.
    In the Kingdom.
    In the Nordic region.
    And in Greenland.
It will come at a cost. Economically. Politically. Mentally.
    And we must face that.
Freedom has always had a price.
    Peace has always required will.
And trust does not grow from hope — but from action.
    Now it is our turn.
