Let?s just hope our young talented players get minutes as they are certainly as good if not better than the lack of quality we have. If they don?t get opportunities then can?t blame them for moving on. Someone will see their talent as they have with many of our other youngsters.
Youngsters are hungry and care. Can the same be said of the likes of Maja and Dike?
Youngsters also need lots of guidance to. I remember a goof few years back away against Chelsea and leading 2-1 going into injury time and one of our youngsters going tearing down the pitch with the ball. Needed to go into the corner but went for goal and lost possession.
Chelsea went straight back down and rightly scored. Give youngsters a chance but they need mentors on the pitch not headless chickens.
We presently only have headless chickens.
Certainly hope you are right with that last prediction Al!
I've always thought that this group of players, despite some obvious shortcomings, had enough quality amongst them to be mid table at least but they haven't helped themselves with results in the first half of this season. Given where we currently sit in the table, I think a mid-table finish would be quite an achievement.
Very early days of course, but Ramsay seems to exude more confidence than Mason and also sounds more demanding so maybe he will be able to turn the ship around. Hopefully, we will also see him give opportunities to our younger players like Bostock, Whitwell and Williams in the process.
Certainly agree with your final paragraph Omegstrat. However, and I hope that I am wrong, I am not convinced regarding the youngsters. What baffles me is the age of the youngsters playing in the Premier League so why not in the Champioship?
Don't quite know what it is either Leics. I do understand though that the step up from PL2 to the Championship is massive and that loan periods out to League One clubs, for example, are therefore really valuable in building up both physicality and game experience. That said, Mozza played both Bostock and Whitwell in the cup game. Whitwell was unlucky with that early possible concussion injury and didn't get much chance to show what he can offer but I thought that Bostock's performance at least earned him further opportunities.
Given our current situation especially, Ramsay will certainly want to field the players he feels best suited for each game which would, of course, normally be from amongst our group of senior players but it's hard not to think, for example, that Bostock may offer more than Illing Junior.
Training with the first team is valuable and a clear step up in their development but getting some actual game time experience is better still and we don't want to potentially lose our better youngsters through not giving them opportunities-they could well play a big part in our rebuild for the future.
