Quite a few new players have come into the team over the last week or so.

And they made the difference along with the existing squad to secure this two goal triumph away to Leicester to make up for the debacle of a display against Millwall.

It was a much more front footed display along the lines Nathan Jones likes them to play. Sonny Carey and Lyndon Dykes were the goal scorers both in the first half.

Early in the first half Leicester were reduced to 10 men after Caleb Okoli fouled Miles Leaburn who was dragged down through on goal and denied a goal scoring opportunity.

Charlton made their superior numbers count on this occasion. Harry Clarke nodded into the net but the goal was ruled out for a foul on the goal keeper. Replays proved there was no foul.

Sonny Carey was set up for the first goal by Harry Clarke, who put in an excellent shift. Lyndon Dykes scored from an excellent cross by Luke Chambers on loan from Liverpool.

The home side came back into the game more in the 2nd half and had their chances. They were awarded a penalty after Abdul Fatawu was fouled by Amari’i Bell in the box. Jordan Ayew, penalty taker for Leicester, hit the post. The Add1cks professionally saw out the game.

The game will give the team a much needed boost into the run of home games to come.

Charlton goals: Carey 36, Dykes 45+4

Pick of the Players: Lyndon Dykes
