That?s clearly obvious Regis - Israel! Nobody will ever get to the truth about why that deal was torn up but there was a clear distrust with inspections and Hezbollah and Hamas were continuously armed. Nobody will ever know the truth!

Perhaps Trump should have left Iran alone and the Iranians kept supplying thousands upon thousands of drones for Russia! Then you need to ask what was the point in sending billions of dollars to Ukraine to combat these drones? Surely this has cancelled each out?

My stocks and shares have taken a hit with the war so perhaps I should have thought of myself! But like if you an owner of an hotel - you would not care who occupies the beds. It?s all money!

As for gutless Starmer you were right on an earlier post - thousands more illegals will start arriving and no doubt with this government arrangements are already being made! Yep - those on benefits won?t be out of pocket with the girl from accounts!

Oh, that’s news to me Al.. i thought it was Iraq that was developing them according to Blair. Didn’t think Iran is supplying nukes to Hezbolla.

As much as I don’t like Starmer, I think he’s done the right thing for now. Why should we be bending over to Trump- one minute he praises us, next minute slaps a tariff, and interferes with our politics. However much we’re divided in politics here - i think it’s un British and disloyal to side with another government who especially spouts garbage.
Expect a few more rubber dinghies your way Al.

Agree with most of it but rather than a U turn Starmer should have allowed access to the bases immediately. The German leader probably thinks the same but he?s too clever to upset a super power for the sake of it! Starmer clearly is not!

As for the rubber dinghies couldn?t care less Regis - they will never be near me as even hard working young couples struggle to find property as prices are too high!

Coincidentally I was in Dubai a week before it kicked off. Looking to see if there are any cheap flights back in the next couple of months. As Patel says - you can?t beat a fkin bargain 😭

Much as I rarely agree with Starmer, I am with him on this one. Trump is a pathological liar and gives varying and often differing reasons for the war with Iran. Basically, I do not believe a word that he utters. Therefore, I think it is correct that we act with caution.

I never quite understood why the rest of the world (aside from one or two countries) are so reliant on US for security and trade. Given that Trump will be in power for another few years, we as a continent should really be planning for contingencies so we can cope better when we’re threatened by tariff and trade punishments. I think Europe including us should start to do this to safeguard ourselves. This may in turn cut trade with the US but surely we have to stop this reliance? If the rest of the world colluded in this way, what would this mean for the US? Surely the right minded americans won’t blame us for doing this. We can’t keep going on like this and our opposition parties need to unite over this and not try to score points, especially when we should be thinking UK first.

Exactly that Regis! You have it in one! The again Europe will never unite as too many differing opinions and dithering countries. Should unite be the same percentage of GDP for ammunition and defence? Take Ukraine - some are taking the
p iss and contribute f uck all like Hungary and Slovakia and others like Spain less than others! If I was Poland or the USA I would insist on everyone paying the same as it?s not fair on those countries tax payers. Starmer says they will increase by another 1% of GDP to meet the suggested defence spend! Perhaps if billions were not wasted on illegal immigration and throwing benefits around like confetti then this would pay for it! To raise taxes again would surely risk anarchy as already the cost of living is out of control, I have friends who work in the NHS and you explain to them their inflationary pay increase of around 3.5% was decent when bills, council tax are going up by 5% and food costs are staggering! They are worse off for f uck sake!!

That stupid cow from accounts said everyone has more money in their pockets. Clearly she was not referring to middle earners and what a truly thick comment!

Really easy to check facts and figures online Al. EU has provided more direct aid per GDP and GDP per capita than the US.

You also need to get a grasp that inflation is the total sum of all normal bills, not just one element. So 3.3% is lower than 5% council tax increases, but other normal costs havent risen by 5%. Public sector wage rises are massively higher than private for the last few years. Theyve done quite well actually compared to the rest of the country and better than inflation.

Don?t know where you are checking Matt!!

    Who are Ukraine?s largest donors?
The US has committed the largest amount of aid to Ukraine, providing 114.64 billion euros ($134bn) between January 24, 2022 and June 30, 2025, of which:

    Military aid ? 64.6 billion euros ($75bn)
    Financial aid ? 46.6 billion euros ($54bn)
    Humanitarian aid ? 3.4 billion euros ($4bn)
The EU (Commission and Council) is the second biggest donor at 63.19 billion euros ($74bn), followed by Germany (21.29 billion euros or $25bn), the UK (18.6 billion euros or $21bn) and Japan (13.57 billion euros or $15bn).

As for food bills they have increased on average from 3.6% to 5.2% but hey it depends on what people eat😭. I can?t think of any household bill that?s less than 4% unless you live in a s hit hole!

Inflation covers every cost so not just bills and groceries. Many do not have the luxury of jumping on comfy trains, or planes and even many pensioners can not afford cars just like some of our NHS staff.

NATO are trying to bring their defence spending to I believe 3.5% of GDP. So that?s an extra 1% for the UK. Where will this come from?

Are you disagreeing that some NATO countries contribute zero for Ukraine or peanuts and here lies the crux of the argument!

Cant be arsed to type it out but it was fact checked by the Kiel institute and the EU spent more than USA:

I would not take anything seriously reported by the BBC - even our Huw in their eyes is a vicar!

The USA is one country and the EU is over 30 countries FFS of which some do not contribute a single dime! Even then the EU population is over 600 million and the US is only just above half that!

Get the drift! Hungary and Slovakia have a joint population of around 16 million and what have they provided to Ukraine. Goulash?
