    Kyle Walker

An interesting interview with Walker in The Times today.

He believes that Burnley has a chance of surviving. I am not sure where his optimism comes from.

He has announced his retirement from the England squad. There is nothing in his performances for us that would warrant a call up. Presumably he is saving face by officially retiring.

I thought Tommy had already made the decision for him.

His lack of tactical acumen has really surprised me. A big disappointment for me.

For me he?s another who has got some un warranted criticism

He?s playing in a set up that he?s simply not used to ie no offers - no runs to
Pick out and absolutely no back up - he?s the last line of defence because of his pace and Parker?s negative tactical approach doesn?t allow him to bomb on as in my eyes anyway no one wants to commit to going forward - even he?s conditioned to the same now hence people having a go. At his deterioration.

I?m not saying he is the player he was but I?m sure a lot of the negatives are due to other circumstances.

Good points Army.I have lost count at the number of times Walker has looked up at who to pass to going forward and more often than not ends up turning round and passing sideways or backwards.

And I've lost count of the times he has deserted his post and no-one covers for him.

Having watched him today and having started the thread, I focused on his body language - as with others. I think CiB’s point is well made.

Players like Anthony, Hannibal, Ward - Prowse and, today, Walker receive the ball with their bodies open, looking to play forwards. Too many receive the ball closed, looking to play backwards. Again, there were at least two occasions today where we went from the edge of their penalty area back to Dubrovka. Bournemouth never did that once!

I posted this last week where we receive the ball with backs to play and at a professional level it?s amateur at best - I don?t understand why Parker ( I?m sure it?s his doing ) sets us up with that mindset.

Hand on heart when I sat down today the first 8-10 mins I knew we weren?t going to have a go at them

I?ve read this week Parker has said the season could be interpreted as a mistake but he feels he?s the figure to help the team and players a responsibility he has - he says.

I do wander what we do at Gawthorpe

Points I notice and have since we kicked a ball first game this season

We still let opposition deliver ball with ease into our box

Midfield drops and invites opposition to play most of the game in our half ( including their centre backs )

We never ever let the ball do the work - by this I mean we are always stood still to receive the ball - other teams get their wide/ midfield men to run onto balls that are played into spaces

We don?t mark players and we let them run of the back of us and all
Look at each other like is that your man ?

Just a few points that have happend for 30 games now and still Parker tells me we are a young team and learning ?

I?d suggest if we are learning - most of it negative and how to stand like statues

I watched Fleming today and wandered how he?d managed to score the goals he has without very much service tbh.

I posted before that I won?t be renewing my st if he stays and I have to let them know by April - I can?t do another season at any level watching his tactics- I?m really not sure how he?s got away with it.

I agree with all you say, army. It is the same match in and match out. Getting a draw at home seems like a success now.
