This is not true. PIP is not means tested...
Of course there are people who milk the benefits system. I have prosecuted and defended several such people in my career.
I suppose you could say that human nature dictates that some people see an opportunity to exploit simply as an opportunity. That is why some people are happy to milk benefits. It is also why some water company executives saw dumping raw sewage into rivers and the sea as part of a lucrative a business model. It is also why some business owners saw the Covid crisis as an opportunity to accrue wealth by selling dodgy PPE or making fraudulent claims for soft government loans or furlough payments.
The trick is to avoid tarring the majority with the actions of a minority. Not every benefit claimant is a shirker in much the same way as not every person in business is a fraudster.
For example, I do know a businessman who claimed furlough payments from the government whilst keeping his business open, but that doesn’t make me angry at and want to insult all business owners. Maybe it’s an emotional intelligence thing.
I did not realise that this thread was about race, but it isn’t a subject that I am obsessed with and I do not have social media feed that encourages me to be.
