Yet another Scottish Hampden friendly failure last night. We have not managed a home friendly win for over 10 years.I remember we brought over N Ireland on their worst run in history to put our hoodoo to bed and still managed to lose giving them their first victory in years.

From what i remember they played us aff the park.

I have never witnessed this before in my lifetime,10 TEN Arsenal players have now withdrawn from various international squads including Saka and Rice who were both on holiday last week, only joining up today then sent home without kicking a ball. They can do the dark arts just as well off the field as they can on it.

I wonder how many of them will be missing from their FA Cup and next Premier League games?.

Scotland friendlies have been like that as long as I've followed football, they are about as pointless as us turning up at Parkhead. Steve Clarke must also rank amongst the most boring football managers ever, easy to forget amidst the brilliant achievement of not just qualifying for the World Cup, but finishing first in our group, that paradoxically, some of those memorable results were also achieved with some of the worst Scotland performances I've seen in recent times, well at least since the last Euros, and carried a combination of luck, and brilliant individual moments. I really don't get the point in playing a friendly in the build up to the world cup and not trying any new players in the event of an injury crisis, or trying something different, even the Killie guy he gave a debut, i think he put on with 9 mins to go, what is that going to tell you. Really not sure what you learn from a game like that, even if you win it, would have been as well just having a training base and working on the team.

It's why I like the nations league

We have a good record in it, friendlies we've always been rubbish, there is nothing riding on them, just very meh

Apart from a period under Craig Brown, where I recall us winning in Germany 1-0

It's crazy the amount of red card professional fouls that have been given in Scotland since the huge fuss over trusty's red card for Celtic against hearts. Probably almost none of them would have been given had it not been for that.

    Decent results elsewhere this weekend

Celtic made hard work of that over the road, should have been 3-4 up at half time, bit like their first visit to Tannadice but the fun never really created anything

Still annoying we somehow dropped points there a few weeks ago, we were just as on top as Celtic today if not more

Livi are no mugs either, better on their plastic than away but that big Nouble is back recently and is a handful up top, they aren't giving up the ghost, 5 draws in their last 6, need to be up for it and same appetite as the last three games, get the first goal

Also really like Smith for Livi he was at accies before and would have him at United definitely

Watching Ross County here and it makes you realise that for all we criticise JG, the one thing he does seem to have an eye for is when to move guys on. This season you could certainly look at the recruitment of Kucharenko, Bert, Watters, and last season Babunski, etc as being ‘questionable’ but the eyebrows were certainly raised when we released Gallagher, McMann, Docherty and basically let Holt leave before he was undoubtedly going to get released 4 months later. But look at the nick of the lot of them now - at teams 9th and 12th in the Championship. Getting in the required replacements may not always be ideal, but looking at the evidence tonight of Gallagher and Docherty, retaining them may have resulted this season in something much, much worse………..

He's got a very good eye for players, just won't get them all right, has a good hit rate of getting rid of guys and recruitment overall though, which is to our benefit

No guarantee any new manager would have the same, another twin too stick and go with stability
