I've posted before that the disparages between "Western" and "Muslim" birth rates will see Muslims become the majority and then take over in a bloodless coup via the ballot box. I still believe that but it won't happen as quickly as I used to think it would.

Long way to go. I think about 6.5% of the current UK population is Muslim and Muslim’s still only account for 25-30% of the entire World’s population, which is very similar to those throughout the world who adhere to no religion.

I thought you had some expertise with figures! Clearly not, 2021 census Muslims acounted for 6.7% of the population a 2% increase over a decade since the last census.

So definitely not our time, or our childrens' nor even our childrens' childrens'. But then prejudice and fake views seem prevalent these days.

I have no problens with MA's suggestions but the bird has long flown the cage on the second two suggestions as no doubt he recognises.. The first one may be a first world option but not global - I would contend that inequalities in the third world far outweigh first world issues.

At least he has tried to suggest something "practical" rather than just note a few secular homilies that you want to "call out" to a world that largely doesnt want to listen. I have to say that "calling out" does nothing for this reason - noone listens. For all the "Free Palestine" handwringing (to borrow your expression) for a number of years now, did Israel listen? No. Did anyone that matters listen - seemingly not, oh Greta did and various crusaders across the world shouted a bit and made some noise.

"Calling out" achieves nothing other than to make the caller feel self satisfied and allows them to smugly think "well I did say..."

Ill agree we want to avoid a dystopian future for our kids but the inexorable pursuit of technology and AI has pretty much guaranteed that future already. Even if we could, to take one of your issues, end religious intolerance, that wouldnt prevent the bleak dystopia Im afraid.

I suspect we are back once more to the sources of many of our disagreements past - idealism v realism.
ironic isnt it - the call for no dogs has now resurfaced at the behest of moslems

Its neither ironic or even true! The sign in question was seen in the London borough of Tower Hamlets in 2014. There was no evidence it was put up by Muslims and there have been no reports of the same or similar signs appearing recently, either in London or elsewhere in the UK.

There have been posts on Fakebook and other media claiming its happened recently but no evidence to support this.

As for your view that protests or as you put it "hand wringing" chnanges nothing, I'm guessing your unaware of history and how protests, have amongst other matters brought about, votes for women, removal of the Poll tax, etc. etc. and as for Climate change, Norway saw only 7 petrol cars bought in jan 2026, over 95% purchased are now electric, China has a massive programme of renewable energy generation, India the same. I could go on about how pressure and protest has brought about social, economic change, but whats the point when you seem to want to believe what suits you?

Does AI present a dystopian future? It might do, though one only has to think back to industrialisation and how the Luddites objected to mechnaisation of thier jobs to understand that its more complex than you as Mr grumpy doom monger seem to think. The invention of the tractor, decimated labour on farms, people went to other jobs that appeared. The point is we at this point in time do not know how the future will pan out, we do know however, that leaving very rich powerful people to determine that future is not wise and thier power can be limited.

I'd only add that whilst often it appears that protests or pressure groups don't appear sometimes to chnage issues, it is a fact that it does take time for attitudes and views to change.

The disagreements on here are not idealism v realism, but between those who are extremely small c conservative and somehow hark back to a time when everything was marvellous and resent or object to chnage and consider it pointless doing anything to chnage things and those of us who appreciate that change happens, that whislt often people choose an option which seems negative, there are many many eamples of how life has changed for the better. Thats down to idealists and forward thinkers who made the effort despite the naysayers.

Because society, where people are invested in its function and all benefit has been proven over time to act as a restraint on hate, violence, greed and self interest. Or have you been living in a dystopian hell all your life?

Plus history shows that in addition to your negative assessment of human existence, love, art, literature, culture, common interest, cooperation, selflessness, sacrifice, medical advancement, shared expereince, joy has also defined human history.

    Dear Muslims of the UK,
My family and I have decided it’s time to move to a Muslim country. We’re still comparing the benefits packages — Saudi Arabia has the cash but zero pubs, Turkey’s got beaches but the call to prayer is a bit “early o’clock.” Decisions, decisions.
Obviously all my neighbours are coming too. And their neighbours. And their mates from the pub. Before you know it, half of Britain will be rocking up at passport control with three suitcases, a Union Jack beach towel, and the quiet confidence of people who’ve never been asked to integrate in their lives.
As a proud Christian community, we’ll need a few tiny adjustments to make us feel at home:
Please start building proper churches immediately — big ones with bells that go mental at 8am on a Sunday. None of this polite muffled ding-dong nonsense. We want full Fat Controller energy.
We’ll also need certain roads closed for our marches. Just the occasional Easter procession with 400 middle-aged men in slightly tight robes singing “All Things Bright and Beautiful” at the top of their lungs. It’s not five times a day, relax. We’re civilised.
Every single supermarket must stock proper British pork: bacon, sausages, black pudding, the works. We’re a minority now, so you’ll just have to be understanding and tolerant of our deeply held cultural tradition of putting pig in everything.
We’re bringing the dogs. All of them. Expect Labradors, spaniels and staffies enthusiastically ****ting on every pavement while we smile and say “he’s just saying hello!” You’ll need dog parks. You’ll also need to smile when we walk them past your mosques at peak prayer time. That’s called diversity, mate.
Your religious holidays are lovely and all, but they’re a bit full-on. We’d appreciate it if you toned them down or maybe just moved them to a Tuesday so they don’t clash with The Chase.
In schools, our kids must be allowed to wear massive crucifixes, eat ham sandwiches right next to fasting pupils, and refuse to sit near anyone who’s had a bacon butty. Any complaints will be treated as Christianophobia. We’ve already got the lawyers on speed dial and a very tearful BBC interview lined up.
If any of this is refused, please send a full list of police stations so we can report you for hate, discrimination, and general not-being-nice-enough-to-us.
One more thing: if my lads burn your flag because England won on penalties, please be understanding. I’ll give them a really stern look and make them write “sorry” 100 times. Probably while wearing their new “Three Lions” replica shirt.
We’d also like generous benefits, free housing, and a nice little “integration grant” while we spend the next three generations “finding ourselves.” Work is obviously optional. We do, however, intend to drink heavily, gamble on the horses, and go topless in your parks the second it hits 22?C. You’ll get used to it.
Thanks in advance for your legendary tolerance. After all, diversity is our strength!
Yours in Christ (and the occasional cheeky pint),
    A Very Reasonable Christian
Very little of it stands up to close examination of what happens in real life. So utter bull**** written by some ignorant prejudiced ****! Not you obviously!

My expertise with figures extend to the understanding that not all future trends follow a straight line wrt historical figures

This was as staged as any WWE show. As, IMO, was the outdooe one a few months back when his ear was "hit". Look today and there's no scar where the "wound" was. The ear is cartilege and would show signs of recovery. His doesn't. His ratings are through the floor and this is his way of improving them, IMO.
Indeed looking at the various reports it certainly seems to be a "set up". Its inconceivable that with the iran war and two assasination attempts that security would so lax as to allow anybody to just "charge" past security as this guy did. Its also funny how he wasn't shot or even badly injured. Thats without various pronouncements by Trump and his cohorts about a possible attempt on his life BEFORE this incident.

In short the guy had zero chance of getting to Trump it stinks.

I note that the MAGA free speech warriors, you know the ones that proclaim the right to free speech iirspective if it might offend someone are calling for Kimmel's cancellation again!! Days before the latest suppoed assassination attempt he had lightly "roasted"Melania by saying and I paraphrase "She looks like a widow in waiting".

**** me these right wing loonies are more sensitive than any so called "woke" lefty!!
