    Hope this helps.
And to illustrate my point, you remember in 1970, Leeds United were fined a British record of $12,000 (at the time) by the English League for fielding weakened teams, including an all-reserve line-up against Derby County, while competing in both the FA Cup and European Cup. What's good for the goose...etc etc.

so you think that match fixing is not something that a governing body should not be involved in punishing? Of course, if you are on the take then villa did nothing wrong.

That was in the same category as the 1919 black sox scandal

Forest 2 up at Chelsea, they didn’t throw the towel in, anyone else getting twitchy yet again.

I guess any sensible betting money would be switching to West Ham as they're likely to get a battering by Arsenal before we play Spurs, who looked decent, despite being helped by the lacklustre performance put in by Villa yesterday.

We're certainly not fully out of the woods, but I'd much rather be in our position than the teams currently below us.

Ticket still needs sorting (fingers crossed for the ballot via my ST), but I'll definitely be at the West Ham game (one way or another).

I don't dislike West Ham, but I fear they will need to win AND need other results to go their way to stay up.

Never said anything of the sort. Villa fielded a weakened side just as Leeds did in 1970. We were punished, it doesn't look like Villa will be. Neither instance could (or.should) be regarded as match-fixing but evidence of what clubs will do to prioritise competitions that they consider to have the greatest value. Leeds did it, Villa did and I suspect that it would be fairly easy to find a great many more examples at all levels of the game.

And they made changes? if you?re a first team squad player, you get paid very well and what, you can only play depending on who else is in the first team??? As long as clubs don't fill the team with youth (tho at times folk complain not enough young ones getting a chance) I don?t see any problem. Everton have a young lad they paid 40m for who is not a regular, but he?s good enough to be a squad player?
