Seriously, I agree with your first paragraph, but these teams will have had to fallen a long way to let us in. To me the gap in skill and attitude is insurmoun

A very one-sided El Classico so far (Real 0-3 Barca) and Messi has just come on as sub.
No sign of Ronaldo tho

I always look at England as a Qtr finalist at best when it comes to these tournaments and while this might sound negative, remember we didnt even get out of the groups in last years world cup. I think we're just used to being let down time and time again Mich and its become second nature now to just be dismissive and negative.
Maybe Germany havent been as good since winning the world cup but I wouldnt bet against them for next year. Belgium keep getting mentioned as a dark h
I understand the pessimism Acido. And I agree that QF are the most likely result and probably where expectations should be set. But with the set up of the tournament, with four third place teams making the knockout stage, there's a chance that England could avoid one of the favorites in the quarterfinals and have a more beatable opponent. All I'm saying. And I think in some cases, naivete can be a benefit. Like right now, Leicester should be nowhere near the top of the table. But they think they should be so they're playing like it. If some of the younger players are capable of playing like they don't know any better, it could be alright for you guys.
Again, I wouldn't bet on England being in the semis. Wouldn't even think about it. But I could see you having a surprising tournament.
Burnley v Brighton in the championship first up today and followed by the Spurs/West Ham game in the premier league.
An early goal for Brighton, Bobby Zamora in the right place to score from close range after Hemed's effort come back off the bar.
All square, Andre Gray from the penalty spot, Dunk penalised for a shirt pull on Keane, both players were doing it.
Two goals in the first few minutes and then a drought the rest of the game. Brighton will be satisfied with the point I imagine.
Hard fought game, Arfield with two decent chances in the second half for Burnley finished 1-1.
1-0 Spurs, Harry Kane with the goal, turn and shot in the box, easily losing his marker.
West Ham close to an equaliser, Kouyate acrobatics comes back off the bar,he looked offside on first look.
