On Magpie Circle Les Bradd said he thought it might be a 'head coach' appointment rather than a traditional manager.

Not sure if this is common knowledge but Mace confirmed that Hardy was keen to sell to the ex-cons consortium and that they intended to get rid of Ardley and install their own man. There was a clause in Ardley's contract that it could be terminated at the end of that season (if we got relegated I think). The Reedtz brothers however always wanted to keep Ardley on. Mace also talked about Nolan being linked with a comeback in the February of the relegation season and that the players got wind of it, with some of them obviously very keen to see it happen, and that didn't help matters.

For me this was the most informative part of the podcast and highlighted exactly the kind of challenges Neal Ardley had to face during that relegation season. Bloke was on a hiding to nothing.

That said the bros put faith in him and unfortunately he hasn’t delivered and if we are all honest we don’t currently look like a team looking to get promotion.

New manager appointments are always interesting, but this one is more intriguing than most.

What a fantastic opportunity for a new manager with the games coming up and the support that the owners have given their previous manager.

As an aside I've revised my view that Guy Branston will get the role. I think they will go for a big named manager instead and the only one I can find with a big name is Giovanni Van Bronckhorst.

However the link below has just appeared on Radio New Zealand - we are a bit behind the times down here though.

Is Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink unavailable?

I saw his name too , but he is only an ex-player. I don't think he has managed anywhere.

That’s why I’ve defended him that season in that I think all sorts were going off, got no doubt flip flop Hardy would have been talking to Nolan thinking it was a good idea, it might have worked but was never going to help Ardley. I bet Ardley wished now he had took that time off from football he needed and not been persuaded by Hardy, hopefully he gets a bit of a break now and finds a new challenge next season.

I truly hope he gets a shot at a club that is well run, has a decent budget and isn't going through a pandemic! He just never caught a break at Notts, his first season was full of turmoil around a bad owner and a toxic dressing room.

Second season he had to put together a squad in about 2 days and made the playoffs and possibly would have had auto had the season not been curtailed due to the pandemic.

This season has been stop start all the time, no fans and a totally alien environment. Really feel for him, he seems such a nice, genuine bloke as well

I think it'll be someone from abroad. Ardley did ok last season but this season the owners will have expected everyone to be chasing us not us chasing playoffs. Not good enough so needed to change. Always will respect Ardley for keeping us going after Hardy, hope it works out for him somewhere else and we get someone more positive.
