Cant agree with you guys that think that it wasn't a red card and still think if it was the other way round we would be raising hell if it was one of our players that was tackled like that. But it seems we are going to appeal it. Good luck with that and for the team's sake I hope we succeed but Fletcher's comments certainly won't help the cause. From today's papers:-

United plan to appeal but striker Fletcher was not so sure there had been an injustice. ‘See these days, you can’t tackle like that, ’ he said. ‘Skip will be the first person to say that. You can’t with VAR. The ref didn’t see it and a couple of years ago you’d get away with it, but now they can go back and look at it. I’ve not seen it again so I don’t know, but I’ve seen Andy’s leg and it didn’t look great.’

And i honestly can't agree with your opinion. Absolutely nothing wrong with the tackle, ball first and perfectly natural movement of leg. Football has gone ****ing mad if that's a red card.

And I respect your opinion. There are folk who categorically think it merited a red and others who don't. That is football; it is all about opinions. I hate all the diving and feigning injury that goes on and hark back to the time when it was a 'man's game' if you are allowed to say that nowadays. Whether the game has gone ****ing mad is also down to opinion and in many ways I think it has but tackles like that on Saturday are going to get red most times nowadays unless it is an old firm player making the challenge; inconsistencies and corruption I know. If a big lad like Fletcher who can look after himself on the park and who imo is no 'lightweight' thinks it merits a red card then we will likely fail with any appeal and have to adjust to 'modern' rules as to what is a fair tackle or not.

Reflecting on the incident, Tynecastle boss Robbie Neilson said: “I would be really disappointed it of was one of my players (sent off). He (Edwards) went in for the ball and it wasn’t high. I might be proved wrong but I didn’t think it was a red.”

If Fletcher has based that opinion on "Andy's leg not looking great" I wonder what he thinks about his own challenge on Craig Gordon a few weeks back which resulted in Gordon's leg looking even "less great"!

You are surely not saying Fletcher was at fault for that collision. Craig Gordon came out at fair rate making himself "big" so he could just as easily injured Steven Fletcher.

I was no collision mate, Gordon's challenge was ****ing brutal, both knees up and could have seriously injured Fletcher. Red card and penalty all day long, VAR said no! We would not be bottom of the league in an equal world.

So is a player no longer allowed to play the ball in case there's someone behind it? Do they have to pull out of tackles instead? I see absolutely nothing wrong with Edwards clearing the ball, which he did. He didn't go in high, he went in side footed which to me says all he was doing was hoofing the ball upfield. It's an absolute nonsense to suggest that's deserving of a red card in my opinion. Modern football is *******s in that case, wish I had a ****ing tardis handy!
