That was the best I have seen a Notts team play for more years than I can remember.
The quality of the passing and movement, the intensity of our press was a just a joy to behold.
I won't sleep tonight reliving it.
Sublime tonight, really liking the look of Jones, looks a gem of a signing.
I certainly didn't see anything in Bridge tonight that would put him ahead of the goal machine, Adam Chicksen. At the moment we've got a genuine goal threat from LWB and multiple creative threats from RWB. I trust our recruitment folks and I'm sure Bridge is better than tonight suggested, but I don't think we're badly served for LWBs as it is. Joel Taylor's not bad when he's on his game.
Like I've said above, Bostock's now match sharp and in the last two home games he's been given much more freedom to get forward, leaving Matt Palmer more space to perform the deep role. Bostock has the quality on the ball to pose a huge attacking threat at this level.
Two of the four goals tonight came from Bostock crosses, with Sam Austin doing the finishing.
And yes, Jodi Jones is class. The only question was whether his abilities had been diminished by serious injuries, but not on the evidence so far. He's another one whose best is probably still to come, given that he's building up match fitness too. It's scary... in a nice way!![]()
Just on the way back up to Mancland with my Dad after the game.
We were talking in the car and speculating about Southend as it was a worrying fixture on paper. However, that was a complete performance from Notts and we gave them very little to go off.
Thought Bostock had his best game in a Notts shirt so far, so that's another positive as I've been unsure about him since he signed.
The only negative was a little bit of sloppiness passing out from the back again, but that's how we play and ultimately, it seems to work. It's high risk but generally pays off because of the forward play we are capable of.
Thanks for another brilliant night Notts!
P.S. Good luck to Southend, hope they get themselves out if the **** financially. Notts have been there on a few occasions and it's a horrible feeling.
