Anyway, yet again you didn’t answer so I’ll ask again.

Who forced you to go INTO the flat?
Nobody forced me to go into the flat because the flag was not visible from the front door and I assumed that this was another foreign student who was student at a U.K. university to get a better education than he could not get in his homeland.
I also assumed that he would have left his own political beliefs in his homeland prior to arriving in Dundee.
Over 40 years ago U.K. students studying abroad were and probably now are still unlikely to hang the Union Jack across the wall where they are staying.

    Good day for commonsense.
According to an article in yesterdays Sunday Times newspaper Scottish Government civil servants were using the Covid pandemic to get independence for Scotland back on track in 2021.
The article is headed “How the SNP ‘captured’ the civil service in Holyrood”.
Civil servants are supposed to be independent of the government in power and they should not be promoting their own political agendas whilst employed by the Scottish Government as supposedly ‘impartial’ civil servants.

You had a discussion with him about his political beliefs?

    What were they.

Islay, sorry to tell you that flying a national flag doesn't equate to having any political beliefs, just pride in your nation. Even if that nation is run by an elected terrorist organisation bent on the destruction of every Jew on the planet.

British students overseas probably wouldn't fly Union Flags because they're embarrassed by it - more likely to be flying the flags of their actual nations rather than a struggling union in which one nation holds the other three back.

The Welsh have always held this great country back, half off them don’t even know they’re Welsh

Pains me to say it but imo Scotland holds England back far more than the other way round. Barnett formula says it all to me.

You need to remember that we had a loony left party running things in the Dundee City Council chambers who had recently twinned Dundee with Nablus.

The rest of the U.K. would be far better off if Scotland was an independent country as the GERS figures prove.
It has been stated on a number of occasions that the Barnett Formula is needing to be recalculated but Shona Robison is still complaining about Westminster not giving the Scottish Government enough money. Shona Robison should try balancing the Scottish Government books using the GERS figures and she would soon change her tune.
