We now have definition and far better that than a deal destined to fail dragging along in secret.

Agree with Tino above - move on. I would prefer a starting RW and a CB with potential than just Guehi tbh.
One thing we have which other clubs don’t is a manager who is excellent at improving players.
Exactly. Had we got Guehi at the initial bid of £50mill then that would have been a decent deal but shopping around with the knowledge and info our team have had then two bargains to cover two positions for £65mill would make more sense.

Just for those at the back, NO ONE ELSE IS INTERESTED IN BUYING GUEHI THIS SUMMER. There is no 'bidding war', no cue of 'elite clubs' lining up to sign the fella.

Even the hated Red Filth of Manchester decided to spend £70m on an 18 yr old French kid & Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich for €50 million.

If Ashworth is the 'GURU of all GURUs' why didn't he go after Guehi. I'm sure his buddy Parish would have much preferred to sell him to the swamp dwellers than to us.

It's great to see that we are not being held to ransom and if the board will walk away if selling clubs start taking the P*ss!
To be fair, Chelsea had De Bruyne and Salah (the list goes on) in their system and couldn't figure it out. I don't think making it into the Chelsea team is an indication of whether or not you're world class.

    Still no comments from us.

Another interveiw with Parish today, where he was much more measured about us "they have been really respectfull about how transfers are done" etc.

I really think this deal gets done.

Time for Guehi (and his agent) to start pressuring (if he wants the move).

I honestly wouldn't be upset if we signed another player at this stage. If he really wanted the move it would have happened by now. I'd bet my bolllock he really wants to go to one of the cartel and Palace want a bidding war. I'd move on out of principle now

TBH we don't know more than what as been said.

Parish's comment at the end of the interview was telling when he was asked if Guehi was gonna be with them in sept.

He didn't come out and say absolutely. Very confident through out the rest of the interview but stumbled, looked away, wouldn't make eye contact and didn't answer the quest at all.

It's not over til it's over.

    4th bid rejected.

We need to walk away now. I don't blame Palace-he's very good, is their player and they want to get as much for him as they can, not least because they have to give Chelsea 20%-but there are 2 weeks of the window left and we need a CB now.

Let's not beat around the bush, in terms of incomings, this window has been piss poor.

Time to call and end to negotiations.

Thiaw was linked earlier, worth around 25m, if we could pay 65m for Guehi then it would leave a good chunk for a RW.

Spending all our money on one player, when we still need more depth, is nuts. He’s be a great signing, but it’s flogging a dead horse, or leaving us in a position where we’d probably have to sell to meet PSR by next June… and that would have all the Bruno, Isak, Gordon rumours flying around all season and we don’t need that distraction.

The other problem is that, with only two weeks left, other clubs will up their price-and quite understandably so-they'll know we're desperate, for one, but the selling club will also have to replace a player with limited time left.

    We're a bit screwed, I reckon.
