We finished better in both the seasons after this.

No season long evidence to show anything anywhere near catastrophic enough for a relegation.
If you add the end of last season to the end if this, it's not glorious is it!

The vast majority of the clubs that are relegated to the National League either have big financial issues or are very badly run off field behind the scenes, or both. We have absolutely no evidence regarding either under these owners.
I have to agree with this from laddo.. all the scare mongering predictions about us getting relegated if Maynard had been retained was utter b-o- ll-ox..

Its the NCM cycle - moan until your prediction comes right (its more likely than not).

Season ends - 'We arent in good shape we'll be looking at bottom half/ relegation, do the bros really care'

    >

We sign a few players - 'Never heard of them, cheap option, no ambition' (They often turn out to be astute signing like Bedeau, Platt, Bass last summer)

    >

Lose / draw a preseason game - 'We dont look ready for the season, new signings duds, we miss player X from last season'

    >

We end up having a decent season, acheive more than a lot vote for on the preseason poll, but still poster doubt the owners ambition and think we are just a big money laundering scheme so the bros can profit off The Nest and The Padel courts

You will be able to play bingo with these scenarios as the summer continues.

Maybe how Rob Street did and how our January signings did is a reflection of their respective coaches rather than their intrinsic ability.

Certainly Will Jarvis is no more an effective wing back then I am an award winning chef.

    True dat.

I'd make the same argument for Jatta and Traore. No wonder Jatta's goals dried up when nobody passed to him and we didn't play to his strengths. Maynard don't have a clue what to do with Traore either. I'm expecting him to come good under a proper coach.

And a pre season of getting to know his team mates.

Coming in to a squad mid season is a fairly thankless task for a coach as you are dealing with games (often sat/tue), managing players minutes, injuries which makes it more difficult for a new player to get properly coached with his team mates.
I do wonder if Traore?s header versus Port Vale had gone in, how that might have given him a huge lift and how that might have changed the course of ours and his season.
It was clear to me that SM didn?t fancy Traore. He rarely played despite injury to DM and Jatta being flogged like a donkey. That?s the bit SM is responsible for? the mismanaging of his front line IMO. He was quick enough to rotate his defenders and to some degree his midfield and wing backs.

Football matches are hard enough to win without needlessly playing people out of position. I saw Will Jarvis give one of the worst performances ive ever seen from a professional player against Tranny. He then scored a worldie against a disinterested MKD and Maynard was dying to use that to justify inverted wingers. 1 goal.

He really will go down as one of our worst coaches/managers in my book. That squad should have smashed promotion.

Jones can play as a wing back though
