MillersMad Match Thread...Millers v Luton Town

Hello everyone and welcome to the latest match thread and our away day at Kenilworth Road, home of Luton Town.

    Let's meet our hosts.

    The Boss
Jack Wilshere was appointed manager of Luton on 13/10/2025 after the club parted company with Matt Bloomfield. Prior to his appointment, he coached Arsenal u18s and more recently, towards the end of last season, he had a brief spell as interim manager of Norwich City. Aged 33, the rookie manager is in his first senior managerial role.

    Player(s) to watch
Other than Nahki Wells and the ex Millers, I've picked out two other players who could impact the game.

    Isaiah Jones.
The 26 year old winger has been injured for most of this season but played his first full 90 minutes last Saturday against Stockport (and scored). A player with considerable championship experience (132 appearances for Middlesbrough), he could be a real danger to the Millers on Saturday.

    Jake Richards.
The 18 year old striker was signed from Exeter in the summer. He played on the right of a front 3 against Stockport (Luton's last game) and looked a handful. He's a player with real potential who could cause us problems.

    Recent Form
    Last 6 in all competitions

    Stockport 0 v 3 Luton (L1)
Luton 4 v 3 Forest Green (FA Cup)
    Luton 3 v 1 Brighton U21s (Vertu)
    Northampton 0 v 1 Luton (L1)
    Luton 0 v 2 Mansfield (L1)
    Cambridge 3 v 1 Luton (Vertu)

    Latest Odds
    Luton 1/2 Draw 5/2 Millers 9/2

    Recent Meetings
    (15/4/2023)
    Rotherham 0 v 2 Luton

    (12/11/2022)
    Luton 1 v 1 Rotherham
    (Jamie Lindsay)

    Summary
Luton should come very close to an automatic promotion slot this season. An ambitious new manager, players returning from injury to an already strong squad and a parachute payment of 40 million (due this season) are things which are likely to tip the balance in their favour come the end of season shake-up.

That remains to be seen of course but in the meantime, Jack Wilshere has had a very positive start to his managerial career. Despite losing his first game in charge, Luton have since won their last 4 games, most notably a 3-0 victory away at league leaders Stockport County last Saturday.

Luton are a different team to the one under Matt Bloomfield and confidence will be high so this game will represent a big challenge for us. We obviously still have problems in defence and this will be tested on Saturday against a pacy Luton outfit, certainly more so than against a very one dimensional Lincoln team.

We'll have to be at our best on Saturday if we're to come away with a positive result.

    Enjoy the game everyone, UTM.
