I was against punishment for cases like this as it would have the undesirable effect of dissuading others to come forward for testing. But thinking about it more, the organizers should be identified and quietly dismissed to be sent back from where they came!

It's a classic case of "we are young" and nout is gonna happen to me. I might have had the same mindset a long time ago.
But........... These folk have parents, grandparents and other siblings, maybe even with their own issues. Would hate to think that they might contract the virus and not be able to survive it for the sake of a pretty stupid party.

Have to say that 59,415 first and 13,160 second doses are a herculean effort from the vaccinators and the people turning up for their jabs, 72,575 in total!

    Vaccination progress by age group.
    Over 80s, 97.6%
    75-79, 99.8%
    70-74, 100%
    65-69, 97.6% (97.5)
60-64, 87.8% (81.9) and past the Scot.gov Cohort percentage target.
    55-59, 50.6% (46.5)
    50-54, 37.7% (36.6)
    40-49, 28% (27.2)
    30-39, 20.1% (19.5)
    16-29, 12.7% (12.2)

On a local note, i dont think the uptick because of all the indiscretions has hit the 7 day/100k numbers yet, but just watch Dundee City soar while Glasgow comes down!

A*seholes as you say. A complete disregard for the sacrifices that almost every other person in this country has made over the last year. Trouble is they won't learn from this and will no don't play the victim over restrictions and self isolation now forced upon them because of their actions. Inconsiderate wee pr!cks.

The thing is once we’re let out the infection rate will obviously rise but if the people with health problems or old are immunised then there’s no real danger and the virus will work through the rest and then we wait for the mutations

The way we are heading, when restrictions are being drastically reduced, there is still gonna be a majority of people who have not had their second dose, and the majority of working age people who have not even had the first dose. Yes, the latter are the people who have been the least at risk from serious illness and death, but there have been Covid deaths in all age groups, and Long Covid might become a problem for far too many people if this damn virus finds the wrong people.

Trying to eradicate the virus is the best way to stop a mutation becoming dangerous enough while the vaccination process is completed.
