What's the issue with wanting to be 'welcoming' but still have a 'concern' about Islam AF? I'd like to think that I'd be welcoming to all, regardless of race or religion...until their behaviour affronts me. I'm very concerned about the behaviour and beliefs of fundamentalist and radicalised Muslims, as I am by religious fundamentalists of every persuasion, be stupid not to be, but surely it's equally foolish to judge the vast majority of Muslims by the standards displayed by a small minority of extremists. Don't see that being welcoming and concerned are in any way mutually exclusive...that's precisely what the bigots and zealots want us to feel imo.

Now that Farage has appeared on stage seemingly endorsing Trump would anyone really still have wanted this guy as a PM??

Jeez Swale...couldn't believe that. Only needs Billy Davies on stage to complete my current list of three most hated human beans.

Seriously though...what sort of person is likely to think that Farage and Trump can add any sort of credibility to each other's image/campaigns?
I know we all disagree about politics but honestly, there is a line and if either of these two attention seeking, amoral and dangerous fools ever achieve real power we really are doomed. Terrifying!

Christ...I'm off to the U.S. for a month in a couple of weeks, really, really hope to avoid any Trump supporters.

That's the problem though, there is of course truth in both sides of an argument, but when people hijack them to attract support for their own extreme and frankly stupid views it creates a fog - Farage was never the "ordinary persons" champion anymore than Trump is, but both use the justifiable fears and grievances of people to further their won bizarre political agendas and pump up their already overblown egos, often to dangerous effect It seems humans learn nothing from history!

Personally I think you and Swale should become Trump supporters, Mangara. You have a track record of backing losers and supporting their cause to the bitter end. That way you could thwart his presidential bid, and with Swale "doing the math" Trump's cause would be doomed.

Whoever would vote for someone named after a fart, except maybe Tricky.

Oh yes and did anyone else see the irony in the fact that the first Olympic gold awarded was to an American in shooting. He wouldnt have won if the clay pigeons hadnt been black.

I've put a tenner on the strength of that so hope your right!!

The Farage/Trump issue brings this thread neatly back to the first post, 1070 odd posts later!

Mind you shows the level of boredom the football is generating that this thread is still running!
