Spot on. If we parked the hoofball and played through the midfield a bit more then we'd get the ball to our wingers and creative players and they'd supply Rooney to put the chances away. Instead we're relying on Rooney winning aimless punts up the field against giants and then bemoaning his lack of influence when he's inevitably snuffed out. The style of football seriously declined last year, and it wasn't because we lacked quality attacking players - we just bypassed them too often because the likes of O'Connor lacked the composure required to pick a decent pass from his defensive position to get the attacks going - Ryan Jack did this job because of how deep he played and anyone who says we didn't miss someone doing that last season is in denial.
