seriously getting the fear at talks of Levein, Floods, Dalys etc. f uck that
For those who like to speculate Sky Bet have Wright at 5/1 whilst mcbookie has him as low as 2/1.
In all seriousness, if you said to us any time between 2016 and 2019 that Craig Levein would be our manager in our first season back in the Premiership - every one of us would have bitten your hand off.
Having said that... what he has done during that time in his short spell at Hearts doesnt inspire confidence in his ability as a manager. Feels like he is still following the same methods he did back in the late 2000's. Football has evolved massively but I dont know if he has? All will be revealed and it all depends on if Forrest and McCulloch go with Robbie imo.
Lets look across the road for a bit of guidance.
Hartley did well at lowly Alloa moved on to Dens then after a decent start got sacked for leaving them in relegation trouble,he then moved onto a similar sized club Falkirk but that never went well either. He then when back to the tried and tested small club at Cove Rangers and did well again.
The Pundit on the other hand was shyte at SKY,shyte at Dens and more recently shyte on Radio Scotland. This bring's us to Jimmy Mac who did a decent job with Ross County with wee Billy as his No2 but he really made his mark at Dens without Doddsie and will always be remembered for delivering 10 in a row.
Back to the drawing board for the Texan's and they promoted from within by appointing their academy coach McPoke who the Derry faithful wanted sacked before a quarter of the season was played.
Maybe we shouldna bother looking over the road after all but i hope you enjoyed the story.
Agree, his stock was high at the time of being offered Scotland job and if he has the hunger then the motivation to work at a club set up to succeed by the new owner would be way more appealing than one which is set up to fail such as Hearts and their owner.
Of course the opportunity to to get it right up them would also serve as a driver.
I'm not saying Levein would be my 1st choice but I would say he would be a very safe pair of hands to consolidate our return. With such a short window until season resumes knowing the club and the league is so important. Levein is a play the long game man, and would also help steer us along Ogren's path and vision he set out when taking ownership.
I hope we aren't relying on Peter Crouch to save our summer.
Steven Pressley is the best manager around.
