A very disappointing result. I know we were 5 unbeaten, but I'm sorry Ardley fans, I still think we pick up the odd results in spite of him not because of him. I think the poor quality of the opposition in this league means that a team like ours would win or draw games without a manager.
Ardley got it wrong tonight. He over thinks things and gives way too much respect to teams.
There are certain players in our side who I'd happily never watch again.
I can't help thinking his 'tinkerman' tendencies have cost us tonight. I'm sure he means well but he's overthinking things, spending far too much time worrying about the opposition's way of playing. I can excuse him freshening up the personnel a little with three games in a week, but he should have kept the system/formation that won the last two matches. The players' confidence in it must have been growing and sometimes that psychological edge and belief can be decisive. He's made the players' lives more difficult tonight when his job is to make things as simple as possible.
Our central defenders must be blamed for the goal. They were both drawn out if position. Leaving Kelly Evans and wooton defending their man!!
Couple of comments about Ardley overthinking things.....
I agree with this.
Maybe it's because he's getting stats from football radar all the time? A blessing and a curse perhaps?
Absolutely right. You can't really blame the players for tonight's loss. This one is on Ardley. It's his loss.
I'm a bit tired of saying 'negative', 'over-cautious' - changing a winning formula, going more defensive, for a home game when you're supposed to be going for a top spot, that's just COWARDLY management.
I thought it was a very hard fought game in terrible weather. Same for both sides and they are a much better side than the disjointed atable seems to show. We should have been one up in a minute and 2 up in 5 mins. After that it was very competitive all over the field. The first time Turner doesnt mark Rheade on a set piece and he gets above Rawlinson who was marking him and they head in the second ball. We tried really hard to fashion an equaliser but just could get it over the line. Anybody calling that a poor performance cant have taken account of the conditions and how competitive Boreham were
Can we blame any of the players for missing great chances?
