I never liked the **** when he was at Liverpool, can't do with scousers full stop.

But when he took the sevco job he became an utterly unbearable prick, ****ing brilliant to get it right up those horrible ****s today, I'll be buzzing all week off this

Its just one game and we all know how things can go. But in all my years of supporting united this is one of the most surprising and pleasing results for a long time. Can we keep intensity up like this - who knows? two experienced signings with pace and creativity would be grand. Stevie G playing to the masses calling us Dundee is pathetic, Tam would become sir Tam if he called them The Rangers 2012

Clark did well yesterday first half, won a surprising amount of headers, but when game got stretched, as happens second half, and we started to launch it, it started to feel like we were playing with 10 men. That is no reflection on Clark, just like Shankland he doesn't have the physical attributes to play that game i.e. pace to run in behind to take pressure off or physical strength to bully centre halves, though he made a good attempt at it first half, but that's when he had bodies around him. Maybe a fit Apperre might have been useful sub last 25 mins. That is why I'm not fussed about McNulty, i think he is slightly better than what we have, but he is also similar.

Think we need a physical presence. You look at successful Utd sides - Dodds in the 80s, 94 Brewster, 3rd under Tommy McLean - Oloffson, Levein/Houston - Daly, McNamara's purple patch - Ciftci. None of those sides was considered a long ball team, all played good football, but its giving the opposition a different problem, gives us a different attacking option, and can help relieve pressure.

I still think even playing the way we did yesterday with the players we have, we are going to be low scorers again in the league. Hopefully the Finnish winger is the first step to rectifying that. If we could play that high intensity football with whippets/movement/penetration up front I'd actually look forward to watching us again.

Yesterday was very very pleasing, made me realise how much I missed being at games and what a game to return... fans were class

That was the 10th win over them ive witnessed at Tannadice since the first one in person which was 1-0 with the Gough og, around the same minute too, Dec 96, which was also on sky sports

There were times his runs where we played it in to his path forced Rangers defenders to knock it out for thrown ins and moved us up the park. Shankland in the same situation would have been dropping deep for the ball and letting Rangers defence push up.

I think this shows that Shankland needs a partner to make those runs, and Clark is far better as a 9 than a midfielder.
Great Post. I mentioned yesterday that Clark scored most of his goals last season with Shankland missing through injury. I'm not knocking Shanks one bit because he was massive for us in gaining promotion and is written into our history now, but perhaps we actually are able to set up better without him?

Be very interesting to see how many additions we make once he moves on and how that affects the way we set up going forward. 4 at the back is a definite must though and the Mulgrew/Edwards pairing has to be our first choice and no shoehorning Reynolds back in out of loyalty.

Hopefully Chalmers not out for too long and we got him off quickly so that ought to help, he definitely adds something for me.

I'm still buzzing over beating those ****s yesterday and my lad sent me a great snapshot of Gerrard girning puss too 😁😂

Clark was the best forward player on the pitch yesterday. Had the measure of Goldson and Barisic in particular. Thought he was outstanding

Completely outplayed Morelos, Itten and Defoe.

Clark often underrated for us in my opinion

Worth reflecting that if he stays to the end of his contract and continues his goals per game ratio, he will end up easily in our top 25 goalscorers all time. Not bad for a guy who doesn't often play a full 90 and often plays out of position.
