If you want strikers to press then you need ones that can run, which rules out Grigg and Sadlier.

All the negative comments tonight bout the team are an acumalation of the last six or seven games . Midfields not playing well and the forwards have gone off the boil . We need new blood to freshen up the squad.

Well at 100+ posts we've officially hit 'the sky is falling' threshold More posts on this one post match thread than we had combined over our last 3 wins.

I agree, as mentioned on the Prince Andrew post, we're at the stick or twist point of the season and over the past 3-4 years the stick option hasn't served us too well.

Is this the same midfield that people said were excellent against QPR?

No. Wiles didn't play. Odoffin and Lindsay came on and were great to add to the starters.

Probably the worst pitch we've played on for a while. Breckin said on ifollow that when he got to the ground at about 12, the sprinklers were on full pelt. The area's were being forked by the ground staff because there was so much water. Obviously it their pitch and they set it up like they want to.
Whenever we play these team what waste time from the first kick, we always struggle against them. They know how to distrupt us. Their goalie was taking the puss from the 1st goal kick. This is where we need to go hell for leather and get the 1st goal. PW must obviously know all about this ploy but we seem to sucumb to it nearly every time.....Next 2 home games will be massive to us. If Lincoln score early on then get ready for it............UTM

Penalties are probably not a good example when comparing Ogbene with Sadlier after Ogbene’s tame effort at QPR last weekend. Equally I love how you trivialise a players scoring from dead ball situations to somehow improve and make your argument. There is no shame in scoring from free kicks, players fight and argue to get on free kicks, it takes a lot of practice and skill to score from then and some of Sadlier’s have been outstanding. As for scoring from open play, his goal against Crewe was also sublime to watch, picking up the balls from 30 yds out and calmly striking into the far corner, the keeper didn’t move!

Scoring a hatrick against Man City is also not so shabby when you consider that their collective value was probably 20 times more than it cost to put our entire squad together.

Bottom line, your analogy was poor and unfair and seriously glossed over a lot of facts.

The point wasn't who is the best penalty taker, as you well know. But ignore the actual point with that response if you wish. Barlaser being a good penalty taker does not make him much more of a goal threat than someone who isn't. Unless the game has become more about penalties all of a sudden? Which leads me onto the next point nicely. I didn't trivialise Sadlier's free kick ability. I have just made the obvious and subtle distinction in that the game is not about taking free kicks. If it were I would pick him after Barlaser. A nice free kick can and does help but the rest of the game has to be up to scratch also. This is where I don't see the value in Sadlier. The 99% of the game.

He did score a nice goal against Crewe, absolutely fair enough. Ogbene scored a nice goal with his left foot the other week from outside the box too. Well done to both.

The Man City 'value' in fees paid and wages is largely based on potential. Hence being a youth team. They are investments for the future and the reason they are playing in youth teams still is for that very reason, otherwise they would be playing in a first team somewhere. You can be worth more than someone else due to your potential as much as current ability, it was largely men against boys so you have to factor that in. It doesn't fit with your aim but it's fact.

Bottom line, you have glossed over facts that are important to the point. Re where Ogbene has been played etc. You can't counter the point about him playing wing back like Fergie and that being unfair when bringing up his lack of goals. You're dismissing a guy who is playing wing back because he doesn't score. Over a midfielder who has largely scored from set pieces. Sadlier's set piece abilities don't negate his overall lack of impact imo. Likewise for the coaching staff, hence why he doesn't play. Has Sadlier not scored more because he hasn't played as much? Potentially. Has Ogbene not scored as much due to his position? I think so. And no, I don't think he will suddenly become a goal scoring machine if he were to play up top but he would bring a different threat.
