Don’t want to get in amongst however many pages of circular arguments, but this whole thread just sums up why their won’t be independence in my lifetime

Even those that wish for an independent Scotland are so fractured that there is no candidate that would step up that not only unites the SNP but unites those seeking to leave the Union

The chance was missed in 2014- and as more days pass it is clear that this change is an opportunity for all union parties to add to the project fear mantra - I would be surprised if the SNP were able to maintain level of support and seats they currently occupy at the next UK and Scottish elections.
This wouldn’t be a surprise having had dominant position of power in Scotland for so long, but the shift may be greater than anticipated- Even though the other parties in opposition have little to boast about

I presume you think you're making some sort of point.

Scientists can be poofters too, or something like that.

I expect a tough couple of years ahead for the SNP, but I still believe that independence is alive and well. I've said for a while that any vote wouldn't see a victory for yes until around 2040.

If only Sturgeon had went to Kiev for a photo with Zelensky and concentrated on making Brexit work it could all have been so different.

So Forbes v Yousaf it is then.

I don't know much about them, as with most politicians they all sound like Charlie Browns teacher so I don't bother with what they have been briefed to say from their spin doctors.

One is pro gender reform and the other against, so at least we have a clear battlelines so one side winning will split the party, which is always workable.

I’d be amazed if Forbes was briefed to say that by a spin doctor.
