I don't recall the manager saying he was leaving in the summer.....must have missed that.
Staying at Pittodrie is close to impossible, the land is hemmed in by houses and a road, each season the ground looks more and more run down with facilities that belong in a different era. Training in the park is hardly going to attract the quality of player that the club needs to progress.
I have seen many grounds in Europe, some of them with a fan base of Livingston but with state of the art stadiums and training pitches, many all weather and some indoor. We need a first class modern arena that benefits the whole of the north east and brings investment into the area.
Incidentally, I don't live in the city and manoeuvring round the harbour on a busy Saturday and finding a parking space near Pittodrie seems to be getting harder each season.
As much of a shame as it would be to leave Pittodrie, personally it will be a lot better for me as I havent lived in the city centre for over 10 years.
But of course, the majority of fans all stay within 5 yards of the ground, so it would be a shame to make them go through the same travel arrangements as the half dozen who stay outside of aberdeen.
All those cars parked all around the city on game days must just be shopping.
I haven't entered this debate because no representation without taxation i suppose and 12,000 or 12,002 miles is a little acedemic.
But what i do pick up is that it appears there are complete fckwits both at AFC and the Cooncil. Couldn't they talk , innovate and compromise? That would be too much to ask. Concerns about infrastucture - share the burden and the profits? ; tax/rates breaks?
Clearly the club are not seen as an asset to the city or having the potential to be such but do they promote themelves that way or is Stewartie simply treating it like another housing development?
But what really vinegars my piles is neither side seems to want to grasp the nettle. Develop Pittodrie? How about we build over Pittodrie St? Kingsford perhaps we could develop a transport hub with facilites between the crem and Kingswells , approach the Pittodrie Bar, Bobbin Mill, Golf Clubs etc see if they have any ideas re. relocation / redevelopment.
Ah fck it pontificate enough and there will be land available in Altens/Dyce/Rubislaw when the oil compies pull out.
This is what 'old boys networks' and grudge-bearers get you - bitter auld c*nts that hold back everyone else because they don't like that other bitter auld c*nt on the other side. It's highly unlikely that the general public features highly in their thought process.
"Fit's that? 5 folk fae Westhill are nae happy? Yass min - that's good enough for me to stick it up that al f*cker! BLOCKED! Why div ye nae jist bide at Pittodrie en?"
"F*ckin try an stick it up me will ye?! That's it - ken fit? Pittodrie's f*cked! We're gan til Westhill or naewye ye pr*ck. Actually, we'll f*ck aff til the Shire if ye block this! At's fit we'll dee! How div ye like them aipples c*ntylugs?!"
