Just as a matter of (not much) interest, I saw the reformed Stanley's first ever game at the Crown Ground. It would be around 1970, I think it was in the Lancashire Combination and I'm pretty sure it was against Formby. Ironically while Stanley have prospered Formby went out of existence about four years ago.

The last time I went to watch Stanley I never saw them, Burnley were away somewhere and Alex Macdonald was on loan for their opponent's Plymouth Argyle. I thought I'd go and see how he was getting on, but when I got there I couldn't believe the admission prices, this was D2 but it was £12 for coffin dodgers like me. I only had a tenner on me, so I drove back home and watched the racing on C4 instead.

    ACCRINGTON 0-2 BURNSLEY

Our first ever game against Accy Sturnsley (yes Im trying to turn them into us when I call them that lol).
I like Accy and other clubs like Fleetwood as well, and I rate them for what they have achieved on their limited resources.
They know more about real English club footy than the likes of ManUre, Chelski, Arselio, and the rest of the appallingly greedy and out of touch so called TOP Premship teams.
Ok, thats me done, rant over!.

What a nightmare for the Bastido's eh (that name always makes me laugh on here), a surprisingly easy win for the Nobbers.

Interesting night with Burton getting through to the semi-final along with Man City who beat Leicester on penalties after some of the worst penalties you will see!! I would have loved to have seen this board if the Clarets had fought back so well, as Leicester did, to earn a draw and then take some woeful penalties --as Leicester did! Mind you, they were surpassed by Raheem Stirling whose 'clever' effort was absolutely woeful!
