As distasteful as it may seem, it's important that Putin is offered a route out of this that saves face and some level of control from his point of view. Not appeasement, but a strategic exit door and breathing space. Maybe the peace talks without pre-conditions due to take place between Russia and the Ukraine are the key. If Putin is made to feel completely isolated and humiliated, no option will be off the table in his mind.
Flight Radar 24 is an interesting website at times like this. Last night there were at least three US Air force planes flying circular patterns around the western borders of Ukraine, and another doing the same over the Black Sea. One of them flies direct from RAF Mildenhall each night.
Military Freedar app is good too, lots of videos of B52’s arriving at Fairford this past week or two as well as the U2s going up on a more regular basis….. there were some B1b’s there but I think they have gone

We had a number of close calls during the cold war due to computer or human error. What's happening now must raise the prospect of the end of history by mistake, considerably.
One of two close calls in 1983, when things were last this tense, was 5 days before we played Everton. Blissfully unaware at the time, it's chilling now for me to recall that day. I don't remember anything about the match itself (we lost 1-0 to a Peter Reid goal) but I distinctly remember an old girl who used to stand next to us that season who - as Everton came out for their warm-up - asked my dad if they were a London team, which I thought was odd for somebody not to have realised they were from Liverpool by the time they were in their 70s. She was quite a character though, she'd always insist on wiping the top of crush barrier down and we'd have to move back whilst she carried out the task, she'd been watching Notts since the 1920s top flight days.
