Completely agree. After the first goal I thought we were going to get crushed 4-0. Looking ahead, a major issue is no depth in defence. Alioski is not a natural left back. Douglas is but i feel he is slightly slow. No natural replacement for Phillips. That is a specialist position at Leeds. Just gutted because I feel that with Cooper and White we might have won.
If Harrison continues his form this season (many times last season he was unplayable, but also had a few relatively poor periods too) he will be amazing to watch - absolutely fantastic yesterday - his first touch was the best in the team, and the goal and chasing down etc were sublime. Let's hope we have an option to buy him in his contract, unlike White.
With everything that goes with getting back to the premier league and the need to stay and prosper there it makes me feel like we should pay what Brighton demand for White. The extra cash isn’t much in the bigger picture. Then have Cooper and Struijk as back up.
Also bring in De Paul. End of spending or investment as I would say.
Still can't believe the challenge Rodrigo made. MB wasn't very friendly at the end of the match towards Klopp and I think it was because his mind was elsewhere, i.e. he was fuming at Rod giving away the pen. Someone on here said before the the game that
Struijk wasn't good enough. I think he's a cracking player. And he can hit a pass too. People giving Koch a hard time but his first game and look what he was up against. I was happy enough with him. The handball decision was ridiculous, not his fault. And Van Dyck s goal in the 2 nd half showed
why he scored in the first half. That being they got someone to block his run with VD.
Feckin spell. He ker, have it
Reckon spellchecker ker, have it
And what I wanted to type,
Feckin spellchecker, hate it
I think we gone ‘done’ with the second pen, lesson to learn! We also got blocked “off the ball” a couple of times in one or two box incidents. VD goal was typical how we got stopped defending. Things what will be carefully looked at and analyzed by MB.
Struijk and Harrison stood out for me.
Yeah MB seemed pretty pissed about the goals we conceded, we looked a bit lost bringing to ball out and nearly came unstuck with the back passing at times, a bit nervy. All in all a good test of things to come, deserved a point imo.
This weekend watched Fulham vs Arsenal and WBA vs Leicester. Both newly promoted clubs did not score a goal between them. Both got beat 3 nothing. Neither registered a clear chance in the second half of their respective games. Baggies registered 1 touch in the 18 yard box for the entire 2nd half. Just one. There is no ambition, no courage. These guys just want to "hang" on and park the bus when the opposition attack. The just want to be organized and "compact". That's not the way to play football. Definitely not the way to break into top 6. But I honestly believe they have no long term plans to do that.
