2nd one ill still give JB benefit of doubt where it happens so fast and he doesn't have slowed down replays to look at but its still harsh. Shankland's jumping to try and block the ball whilst turning. What is he meant to do? He got booked for that aswell?!!

Both soft and harsh. Inconsistency of the decisions is what frustrates everyone. These situations will happen on Saturday with a different ref and get different outcomes. It ruined the game. United were miles off it but those soft pens at the time they happened killed us.
Probably the most balanced poster on here when it comes to match reviews & analysis. An excellent post as usual Darren. 👍🏼

Not sure I agree with playing for draws however. I'd say he plays to not get beat. We simply don't have the players to get us the win half the time. Our full backs lack end product, we have nothing in midfield in terms of creativity and lets face it, McNulty has been a massive flop considering his pedigree which leaves us with Shanks trying to do it all himself. We'd almost be as well sending McNulty and Bolton back such are their contributions since they arrived.

I appreciate the comments. I'm just the same as everyone on here, we watch games and we give reactions. We all give opinions. Sometimes they can be way off, sometimes majority will agree, its a message board after all hahaha

Agree that McNulty and Bolton having brought anything new to the team and should be sent back to their respective teams. Especially if McNulty is on what some on here are saying.

That said I think MM needs to step up too. I’ve back him so far, my patients is starting to wear thin. I get the championship side and the lack of quality in the team. But some of his tactics, substitutions are baffling. Also everyone can see that Clark is not a midfielder and as our top scorer shld be played up top with shanks. Just because we have 3 decent strikers on paper doesn’t mean you have to play them all. If fans were in the ground I don’t think MM wld be as comfortable, and his post match interviews wld not be as cliche and better reflect what we have just watched! Instead of ‘ we have just come up from the championship’ ‘ we know what we have to work on’ etc etc. Also this nonsense about not needing any new players really boils my p ish and makes him look like a yes man. If he was to come out and say we need to strengthening the team, but unfortunately we are not in a position to do so. I wld respect that more. He has to stop trying to protect the players feelings, and kissing the boards ass, and come out and say it as it is. He still has my support for now. But there is no getting away from it the football we are having to endure is dire.

Thing is, he is renowned for not dipping into the transfer market. It was one of the things that was said about him by Tranmere fans when he first joined us. He likes to give youth a chance and will very rarely will spend any money. Unfortunately with the players we have, that philosophy isn't going to work here.

What else can MM really say though.? It is mostly a team who got some truly abysmal results in the Championship. He can't come out and publicly slate the players as he's no money to replace any tool-downers and no other teams would take them off our hands anyway.!

I do think he has been more negative than he needs to be in alot of games and that some of the 'promising' young lads might do no worse than the first picks.

I don't blame Micky Mellon at all. Unitil last night he had us heading for safety. Now it feels like there's a bit of a shadow stalking us.

But, he didn't sign up for this (the pandemic) and I'm sure we would've made two or three decent signings had we been getting some pay-at-the-gate revenue.

Given the hand he has been dealt, I honestly think MM is doing a decent job. If he can get us through this and keep us up, that will be 'job done'.

I'm pinning my hopes on Fuchs getting back in the side. He was just starting to show I think, and then after a bruising contest (vs Well I think) injured.

If MM keeps us up, he will deserve a chance to bring in in a few more Fuchs-standard players and take us forward. I think he would love to send out an attack-minded team. But last night exposed how soft we are without a Fuchs or Butcher in midfield. He is severely handicapped by lack of transfer fees ATM.

Let's hope that insurance pay out is the game changer Tony said it could be. And lets hope we get some of it soon. The crisis/case is still on-going, and I imagine the insurers legal team will try to delay/avoid paying out for as long as possible. So who knows when/if we will see that money.

I reckon we are seeing out this season with the squad we have got. Let's stay behind them and battle it out.

Missed this game, sounds like it was a horror show. I did see the lineup on my FB feed before kick off and honest it's not hindsight to say I thought it was another mistake by the soup chef. Clark and Harkes in midfield is a recipe for disaster. And as others have said it does seem McNulty has not delivered what we hoped.

As the post above says, we need to dig in and hope we can find something. Worrying times, especially if Jeando is not able to play..

I’ve been a fan of Harkes for a while but the patience is beginning to wear thin. Him and Robson were diabolical (goal apart) on Wednesday—the amount of mis placed passes that put us right under pressure was shocking. Robson needs benched and give Sporle a chance—how much worse could he do? Harkes needs telt to start putting the boot in a bit more— if he’s not creating anything and not breaking up play then what the actual ferk does he do in midfield? f*#king powder puff in that last goal.
