A first small step on the road to redemption! My sentiments are relief rather than joy, but it's a start. Now we need to kick on big time.

There were two things I was looking for today and that players winning their individual battles and keeping a clean sheet as the 1-0 is what we are living and breathing by due to the loss of Thomas, Dennis and the injury to Roberts.

The performance was better and was an acceptable standard. Not a great performance and we are still lacking creativity and in cutting edge in the final third. But today was about winning and getting the 3 points and we have done that - so it's job done.

Remarkably Notts are now top of the away form table, 4 wins and 2 draws in last 6, thankfully more away games left than home games!

    Well done Notts!

Not a free flowing performance by any stretch but in terms of controlling the midfield and being more aggressive the difference was night and day from previous games.

The players looked much more comfortable playing more direct and regaining possession further up the pitch and Sams cameo role suggests he could partner Wootton in that formation.

I’m happy for the player and manager tonight, now they have to back it up 💪

Yet another dismally poor performance, but with a positive result. NA breathes huge sigh of relief - unfortunate, because we are light years away from being contenders.

Our final ball is still awful far too often, which hinders us more than anything else in games in which we're dominating the play. Lots you could criticise and that was not convincing. That said, we secured the 3 points and that is always the most important thing.

A big positive for me was that the formation and going far more direct definitely seemed to work a lot better than the 4-3-3 system. It proves we can play another way than 'Ardleyball'. Think we're likely to be better served by doing that rather than passing around on the back and inviting pressure which, as we've all seen, has usually caused far more problems than it has solved for us this season.

Ardley felt we should have won by more than 1-0. Asked the players to play in the oppositions half. He hasn't had the owners onto him asking "what the hell is going on?" after recent bad performances, no crisis meeting with them.

One bright spot of this season in comparison with last is that we have beaten the poorer teams away, albeit usually scrappily 1-0.

Good result, but doesn’t promise much for the future.
