I think Jamie was excellent on Saturday. Think his season has been a mixture of good and bad. Cld do with sorting out his delivery. The bad being when he has been left exposed, but with Sporle in front of him he plays a lot better and overall has dealt with step up reasonably well.
Robson won't play at a higher level than us, I'm fairly confident of that. He's benefitted massively by having no one challenge for his position. He's not had to improve because no is champing at the bit to take his place. His position in the team is fairly safe at the moment. Sporle was signed with providing competition but turned out not being quite what we'd expected.
I think the criticism of Robson is fairly harsh tbh.
He has been around for a long time it seems and during the majority of his time at united, we have been very poor team playing in the championship under some muppet managers. Considering he looked on his way out once Neilson came in, he has came back tremendously imo. Last season was good i thought from him and like most in the squad, this season he was needing to step up in all aspects of his game. In the whole I think he has been good for us this season. He has his poor games like all players but he's been consistently good.
He definitely still needs to improve parts of his game but considering this is his first season playing in the top flight, he has handled it very well and hope he builds on it. Still young enough to develop into a really good player. I will agree he could do with some competition like what Neilson/Wilson done for Keith Watson.
I also think he is much better when he has cover in front of him in sporle. similar to when Robson played left midfield with booth left back a few seasons ago.
Yes my original post praising Robson "baffled" someone
I agree we all see things different but surely we all want Robson to succeed and do well given he came through our system, I do agree he isn't the best left back we've had (we have had some crackers though) but respect to him for sticking with it and his first year at this level he has coped with it and grown imo
He still has his prime and peak years ahead
I'd love Robson to succeed and be one of our best left backs. How many games do we wait until that happens? 260? 360? He's not exactly a raw kid with 20 games under his belt. I just don't think he's gonna much better than he is right now so we'd be better upgrading.
