Nicky has been a great servant but v the Fun he wanted a second touch to score and again v Livi wanted a second touch. McNulty can't go past a player either due to lack of pace lack of physicality or lack of heart. My criticism of the recruitment process (which you seem to be defending) is not correctly addressing the striker options and a complete mess of midfield recruitment.
Got you. Nope, we should never have been in that situation. Recruitment in the striker area has indeed been sh*te. That's hindsight for some folk as a lot of guys were actually happy with McNulty returning. However, as I was debating last night, recruitment elsewhere has been okay given the circumstances, so to brand the whole recruitment process as sh*t was way off the mark imo. As for midfield recruitment, we brought in Levitt and Niskanen and had an on-form Fuchs at that particular time. I think we did okay given we most likely couldn't offload others in that particular area. Again, I'm not sure we can go out and buy a replacement for Butcher or Harkes while they are still contracted to, and rated by, the club. I'd still love a creative midfielder but I gave up on that about 3 years ago if I'm being honest.

Honestly I don’t think it matters who you have in the dugout, they aren’t going to be able to magic up pace in the side. Maybe we were offloading young guys on loan to get in January moves, but Watson is the only guy with pace and he can play wide, surely would have been better keeping him.

Look at livi, they had the big striker that could make the ball stick, and pace in Forrest. We struggle to make the ball stick, or have pace to get up and support the strikers and get the team up the pitch. Even the sheep had that pacey winger who could cause trouble just by being direct.

Watt might be a decent player, but like mcnulty, Clark, he still doesn’t address the pace issue, or give you the option of shelling the ball in the box.

We didn't have much luck with Biamou, we were happy when he was announced but it couldn't have worked out worse. Tony & Co had no inclination that signing was going to go pear-shaped.

And now Watt's got a hammy

He's had it for a wee while now.

He was match fit when we signed him, and to be fair, he puts in a crackin' shift regardless of how the match is going.

Is it a training thing ? (Levitt) ? Or is he just trying too hard because we can't seem to get things working up front and he is already getting frustrated with the way we play? Strange indeed...

I'm with you on this. I was really looking forward to seeing what Watson could bring us after his first few cameos. He even got a start I'm sure? He looked useful.

See the thing with McNulty, I think we can all appreciate a dip in form with players, but they usually come good again and show the supporters their worth to the club, however, I can’t think of him having a good run of form at all since he arrived! we saw a glimpse of what he can do up in sheepville last season but that was one match, this season I’m struggling to think of a game where he has shone yet he’s picked nearly every game when he’s fit. Now maybe coaches are seeing something that I don’t see, or McNulty must be giving some of the bosses head.

You're joking right? No chance of McNulty getting down and dirty, it'll be a fancy flick and a rub of the hair at best

McNulty for me will go down as our worst ever signing..... because we signed him twice and both times he was absolutely horrendous. Maybe 1 or 2 worse players have been at us but they left..... they didnt then feck1n come back for more. Awful awful recruitment with this one

I get your point and each to their own opinion and all but I'd think some of the ones we spent huge money on were most definitely worse signings. It's only a week or two since someone said the same about Biamou, these are loan signings and whilst obviously not without cost, are nowhere near our worst ever signings in my opinion.

I guess the point im making is more the fact we have signed him twice, both times he has been awful and that for me tops the lot, others we have signed once who were as bad as him were gone after a while.

Serious question... can anyone think of another player we have had who was as bad as him but still signed them again and they were even worse the 2nd?
