Anyway IB has gone and i am glad, despite all the bull of how good he was, our final league position was lower with him than Ardley, and we exited the play offs at an earlier stage with IB , even Stallard said at the end of the day that is all that matters

Take IB for example, as you know i never wanted him as a manager, as i believe experience is the key not a trainee over 3 or 4 years that might work out , however i wished him well and wanted him to do well, but it became apparent from the start he was a backward step , he started poorly and was beaten in the play offs. But he deserved a full season to give it a go , which he got, during his full season i saw no improvement, all the usual failures that he did nothing to sort out like, losing to poor teams like aldershot and Eastleigh, crumbling under a high press when pressure was put on us, and ultimately folding earlier at the QF stage of the play offs
Out of interest, what league position did you think was realistic at the start of the season?
Considering what Stockport/Wrexham/Chesterfield spent, I had us battling with Torquay and Grimsby for 4th. So, for me, IB finished where I sort of expected. The playoffs are a lottery. To judge a managers ability on one off games like that is foolish. We’re one stupid foul away from beating Grimsby. How can you define a manager on that?
In terms of the high press we definitely changed our philosophy towards the back end of the season. We played far more balls over the top, particularly at the start of games, to push the opposition back.
