I hope the 42 million we get for him gets us 3-4 great players out of the money.

we've signed quite a few with that money. we do have potential to get some really good players out of the sale.

I can't wish him ill will. He was the backbone of the championship team years with 2 of those under MB. we don't move out of the championship without him. The record until last year with him playing was freakishly good compared to when he didn't. One of those players that boosts the whole team.

I suspect he'll play more than he sits at Citeh. He's a crunching player and Pep will use him for that. He has quite a few softer players and KP will be one of his plysical players as well as driving other players. He'll do better without having to play every game. He was just too physical to hold up at the prem level for that many games.

Wish KP well apart from the obvious games but when players start saying the stuff KP did it makes it a huge bitter pill to swallow.

My opinion is he will spend his time 50/50 with Citeh (bench/playing) for a shed load more cash.

    His career his choices.

I find your views astonishing. He has stayed with us through some **** times when he could easily have left for far more money and a bigger club. He was a very significant factor in our eventual promotion and good first season in the Premier League. I don't see how you can question his loyalty but (news flash) it's not really up to the players whether they stay or go. Like it or not, they are a commodity and the Clubs will ultimately decide who goes where and when. KP's legacy is a good one and I hope he does well; although not against us obvs. We should be grateful for what he done and (hopefully) invest the money wisely to help secure our long-term future.

I wish you and others who comment on my posts would actually read what I wrote. I haven't questioned his historical loyalty, he has indeed stayed and helped us through some hard times and in the push for promotion, never said otherwise.

As for whether players stay or go, current situations suggest that it's very much in their hands and that of their agents to (at the very least) influence the process (see Raphina!), and there is the issue I have with Philips. Very recently he has made statements about how much he valued his relationship with LUFC, his family ties, etc etc. There have been no public statements by the player or the club about wanting to leave, or sell respectively, yet he has gone, and couldn't wait until contracts were signed before donning a Citeh shirt, and sold for less than anyone expected, with the added twist that we have been forced to take an untried U18 player for £5m to sweeten the deal for Citeh (at least when Smith went to Scum he did so for maximum sale price to benefit the club at a difficult time).

Hypocrisy of the highest order and it's THAT which I criticise (see post #132 where I said much the same), not his historical contribution to the club.

I don't. Hope he performs well...except against us of course. Bielsa was a major reason we were promoted. So was Phillips for mine, the way he performed that season. No sour grapes from me...

Glad to see the warmth of spirit is alive and well on the south coast of England.

I’m from the west coast…of Kentucky Lake!

Thanks for the well wishes. I’ll always root for KP….except against us!

And it is his fault about going for less money and getting an exchange player? 😃

I guess the answer to that depends on whether you believe it was the club insisting he goes, or the player making it clear he wanted to go. If it's the former, then no, the club bears that responsibility (and the impact of selling for less than the player was worth (so most would say)), but if it's the latter, then yes, I imagine as in most things football-related nowadays, player power is to be respected.

Heads I win, tails you lose. If its the clubs responsibility it just goes to show that our board couldn't negotiate their way out of a paper bag. If its the players, then he and his agent could have helped LUFC by negotiating a higher value transfer fee. Either way, LUFC are the ultimate losers.
